Add "bottle of antifreeze" to the list of common objects law enforcement officers have mistaken for deadly weapons and then used to justify shooting—and, in this case, killing—an unarmed citizen...
King told local ABC affiliate KATV news that the truck wouldn't properly shift into park, so Brittain went to the back of the truck with a jug of antifreeze to prop behind a truck's tire so that it wouldn't roll backward and strike Davis' vehicle. That's when Davis fired at Brittain, and according to King, Davis didn't tell him to stop or get on the ground. He just shot him.

Where, here’s some facts: The kid was unarmed, 17 years old and killed by police.
“Oh, but he moved toward the cop! He had somethiong in his hand! The cop was AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE!”
If he’s that afraid, then maybe he should stay home.

Gee, you must not like cops. I’m quite confident that had you been the trooper out on a country road at 3 am who just pulled over a car leaving a body shop—again at 3 am, and as you approach the car, a tall guy with long hair starts running right at you with something in his hand, which you think is a weapon b/c the car just left a body shop—again at 3 am!—that you would have just calmly stood there. Sure, I bet you would have just stood there like Clint Eastwood!
Attack anti-freeze?
And another thing...it doesn’t matter too much one s intentions ....it’s the act.

Respectfully, I’ve been an attorney for over 30 years and have handled tons of criminal cases. One’s INTENTION absolutely matters as to whether a crime is committed. If your son is away at school, doesn’t have a house key, and decides to pry open your back window to your house so as not to wake you up, and you shoot him, mistakenly thinking that he is a burglar, you likely did not commit a crime.
BTW, are you really questioning my “conclusion” that the cop didn’t wake up that morning and decided to execute someone? Seriously?
There is nothing wrong with having opinions based on what we know
We don’t need a congressional enquirey
The body cam must be bad
You notice it’s being withheld
All these shoots if the body cam is kept hidden....well,there you are
Remember the hotel hallway shooting
Man they didn’t want that one release
Or the cop tossed the taser vid
Or the black guy unarmed pulling away....head blown off
Retarded kid head blown off with his dad in south Louisiana
Same crap.
Withhold camera
Man you guys are oblivious how common this is...
I’m out late at nite a little working ....like I will be tonite
Even I’m nervous now
These jacked up wannabe seal team cops simply shoot too quick.....more than when I was a boy and cops were just different
We allowed them to militarize and it was a mistake
Pretty much the usual suspects in this case.
Yes, because you weren't wearing a magical blue suit that absolves you of responsibility.
I am very aware of what they deal with. My father was a peace officer, my uncle was a peace officer, and my son in law is currently a peace officer.
I am in the circle of privileged “shop talk” information in all aspects.
And they all agree, it is broken if we now have to teach our kids how to not get shot by a peace officer. Anyone who would even think this is “normal” is absolutely wrong.
Good advise. Pretty much what I do as well, even if I know the cop in question.
Well I’ve been a defendant more than once and paid guys like you around a half a mil in my life mainly to fight asset and forfeitures
So I’ll submit my two cents are just as valid as any criminal attorneys
Plus I took the lsat in 1981 at Oxford..Mississippi..713 old scoring ....that’s a good score and if you’re over 50 you know that
My ACT in 1975 was 30...like a 34 today
And none of that means shit at 63 does it..lol
No I don’t think he thought he’d kill. Kid today
But since we’re waiting to not jump to conclusions as u elucidated ...then let’s not
We do not know for sure he did not have a taxi driver meets mirror morning do we...
If we’re waiting not to jump to conclusions
But in reality....we are all entitled to have viewpoints based on what we know and it reflects what evidence we have....which looks bad to me...
And our general perspectives
And before you jump the gun on me as a defendant ...guilty I might add....although now it’s legal..lol
I posted on this earlier about me and cops...read that before you assume I hate cops..
Honestly....AUSAs and USAs ....I probably don’t care for....but most cops...have been fair to me.....DEA are peacocks.....Coast Guard are medieval if they get you on the high seas, locals, are usually ok though some are corrupt, Marshalls are wonderful, naval, intelligence ok, customs also pretty cool, state agencies pretty honest , and spooks like state dept task forces and Langley intel guys not too bad
But DOJ attorneys....careful....danger Will Robinson...
They are political and ambitious and some break their word
Gotta watch them and their flunkies"
because they are the ones
driving around and shooting kids at night
Almost ALL of the US Attorneys that served under President Trump
Were fine men and women
90+ who were summarily dismissed by Biden except for a very few
But hey I enjoy
Unnecessarily double-spacing my posts too
It is now “fully and immediately submit to superior government authority or be exterminated”.
Even Wyatt Earp was more moral than this...
Antifreeze platform AR
Who knew right
This was a good boy
He was murdered
At least so far it’s damming
His family deserves justice
If it were my boy...I’d lick my nuts till time was right
And then go Paulie Walnuts
Apparently white people are okay with this sort of thing.
I didn’t deal with Trumps us attorneys and dealing with them as a defendant is a different nut from reading about them on free republic
I dealt with southern district Florida us attorneys office late 80s
However I don’t share your view of Trumps justice department
From here it looks like they failed him
Miserably ....more swamp...he should have done like Slick and fired everyone
Judge James H Kehoe..1998 RIP
Tough judge but fair to me..I owe him my life literally
One girl DEA agent who oddly is now a lawyer in Boston
A fine woman too...she cut me some slack
It's always been that way. There's a Raymond Chandler book from the 1940s that includes the line, “Police business is a hell of a problem. It’s a good deal like politics. It asks for the highest type of men, and there’s nothing in it to attract the highest type of men. So we have to work with what we get...”
About the time that every police force decided they needed their very own SWAT team, and they all started walking around in tactical gear. Allowing the police to keep money, and other valuables during arrests also made them greedy. Cap that off with giving them military surplus equipment, because if you have something; you are going to look for an opportunity to use. Then let's not forget the no-knock raids, or no longer needing credible information before charging into a house.
Exactly!
He DID. You are way off on some tangent.
Trump cleaned house of all US Attorneys on March 10, 2017.
"On March 10, 2017...President Donald Trump, requested the resignations of 46 United States Attorneys...The other 47 U.S. Attorney posts were either already vacant by the end of Barack Obama's administration or the incumbent U.S. Attorney had resigned at the beginning of Trump's Administration."
Things change over time good/bad. I didn’t work in law enforcement
but I had friends that did. Today I don’t think law enforcement is
respected as much as it was in the past. In addition the criminals are
not respective of law as they were in the past. jmo I was born in 1940
so I’ve been thru the years and have been/seen a lot over that time.
