"Our efforts to expose the bigoted view and dangerous conspiracy theories spread by right-wing activists has now resulted in @YouTube banning our channel and removing thousands of our videos. We attempted to appeal this decision, and YouTube rejected it."
It’s an attempt to look ‘unbiased’..................
Probably only because their channel had Right Wing in the name. Their automated filter systems commonly do stupid things like that - they’ve banned educational channels for having “Children” in the channel name, for example, in the name of banning underage pr0n.
Is there a phone number you can call to address your objection to You Tube?
Next up they’ll ban the Israeli Holocaust Museum for promoting hate by educating people about it.
and yet I can find many many right leaning channels on youtube.
And many in the comment sections of said channels are savaging biden, harris, pelosi and the whole pee paw gang.
I have no dought their algorithm is set to b list so called right-wingers.
Perhaps it is a grasual process?
So now ask for two.
Their appeal was rejected as well, which means this was intentional.
I suspect that Youtube is aiming to rid itself of anything that’s remotely controversial. They’d rather have a simple, safe little space free from anything that might endanger advertiser money flowing in and they feel as though they have plenty of content to remove everything that anyone anywhere might find slightly objectionable.
Personally, I think that’s a road to a very bland, unengaging platform. But that’s their call to make.
Actually, most of their appeals *don’t* go through a human but a rather broken AI, so the appeal rejection is also automated.
According to this site: https://longzijun.wordpress.com/2017/01/31/youtube-channel-suspensions/ those appeals are not automated. But I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of this. I’m curious what you’re basing your statement about the appeals process on?
the error will be corrected
Before long, there will only be Disney movies and BLM protests on youtube.
I think all Republicans should be permanently banned from all social networks. I could be wrong, but that just sounds like the appropriate thing to do. Things sure seem to be heading in that direction anyway .....
There are large YouTube content creators that have explained the process and have a large enough audience that they *do* get a phone number to call to bypass the system. The Mighty Jingles, among others. Also, your source is from 2017 and things have massively changed since then.
Additionally, I have a small, non-monetized YT channel having nothing to do with any politics, and I’ve run afoul of their AI (more like artificial stupidity) several times on Content ID matches and even been suspended once because their AI identified a dashcam recording of some car backing into a pole as ‘promoting violence.’ Yes, the system is fully automated.
Affirmative Subtraction..................
Right Wing Watch provides a lot of information, biased of course, against conservative groups. In an analogy going back to the 1960s and earlier, reviews of films prepared by the Legion of Decency, a Catholic organization, provided movie viewers about the prurient elements in pre-1965 films, and people deliberately used these reviews to see the films that were condemned. Because You Tube thought that Right Wing Watch was steering people to websites that were condemned, they were banned.
