I went back an looked more closely at the video, and I think you may be correct. She definitely dropped something and it looks like she switches to an alternate weapon. Mag ejection - either accidental or because of a defect - makes sense.

I really hope the bangers in Chicago don’t actually have select-fire semi-autos. That would be....bad.

But any "reasonable" criminal stays away from full-auto because any increase in efficacy for crime is eliminated by the vastly disproportionate police response, including automatic involvement by the Feds.

In Chicago especially, you can easily get away with using a firearm in crime. But using full-auto will almost always bring an intense investigation.

So if I ask cui bono it isn't the criminal who benefits, but the police forces.
