A resident missing in the Surfside apartment collapse told her son the building was making loud “creaking noises” a day earlier, he said.

“She just told me she had woken up around 3, 4 in the morning and had heard like some creaking noises,” her son, Pablo Rodriguez, told CNN on Thursday after part of the 12-story building tumbled to the ground. “They were loud enough to wake her.”

“It was like a comment that she made offhand, like that’s why she woke up and she wasn’t able to go back to sleep afterwards,” he added. “Now, in hindsight, you always wonder.”

Both his mother and grandmother are missing.

I bit the heck out of the inside of my mouth and when my dog ran in the room, the first thing she did when she came back from her walk with my husband was to jump up on me and push her nose into the spot on my cheek right where I had bitten the inside. She knew.

It’s amazing, although it stands to reason, that rabbits have even better hearing than dogs which prey on them. I have read that a rabbit can hear a conversational tone at two miles away. I’ve had a few pet rabbits, and their hearing is almost supernatural, although it definitely works differently than ours does.

I suppose if someone was cutting into a slab for renovation work, but more likely they just failed over time and what the woman mentioned in the article heard was the last one failing - if that’s the cause. Pure speculation on my part.

I know, but I am confident that you could get it in, especially if it’s a bench trial.

I have 3 cats. One just turned 15 and nothing phases it whatsoever. One is 2 and the other is a feral I managed to trap and bring inside. The latter 2 have only known me as I live alone since my husband passed. They are TERRIFIED of strangers. ANY stranger. So, when a car turns into my 700 ft. driveway, long before I know it, they are tearing off to hide under my bed. Guess I stand corrected on animals only “knowing” about natural events! :)

Have it be information upon which an expert witness relies and see if it comes in that way. That just might work.

Ok, I didn’t think in a time of grief a son would act in such a way, but maybe that’s just because I wouldn’t :( Hopefully he is being truthful.

A good friend of mine had her home burn to the ground a couple months back. Same thing. Had 4 dogs, and two got to the front door with her and ran back upstairs to the “safety” of the bedroom. The did not survive.

I “saw” the Skyline Towers collapse in Northern Virginia. I was sitting in a McDonald’s just down from Bailey’s Crossroads and where Skyline center now is and my High School girly-friend was working at the McDonald’s and was washing the windows from the inside and she let out this gasp, when I looked up from my mag there was a big cloud of dust forming and I saw the building right at the tail end of his collapse.

But that was a construction accident(green cement) not a residential building collapse. There were a number of workers who were buried in the parking lot as it was around lunch break for them.

"Guess I stand corrected on animals only “knowing” about natural events! :)"

I worked the 3-11 shift, and kept a light on in my apartment while I was gone. As soon as I pulled into my parking spot outside the building, and got out of my car, I could see my cat sitting on the cat tree in front of the window waiting for me to come upstairs. As soon as I opened the door, he'd be at the door to greet me. I sure miss that boy. He died in 2005 from cancer.

We had them in the nuclear containment buildings.

Also in the FIU walkway bridge that collapsed.

remember the Far Side cartoon where the lady is sitting in a chair and next to her are 2 dogs staring at the closet door. One says to the other ‘this oughta freak her out’, pretending to hear something...

Diversion from the audit.

We're told we won't be hearing about the audit until Labor Day. Pretty premature for a "diversion" don't you think?

Some days this place seems like a loony bin.
