I don't believe the cruise industry will fully rebound in 2022. I don't believe it will fully rebound in the next 5 years, if ever.
Why? The world's economy is in a tailspin, dyed in the wool cruisers will go, but a lot of disposable income from the "deplorables" will be spent elsewhere.
Also the press and others are working to frustrate the Cruise Lines and their passengers, the Cruise Lines owe Billions of dollars that have to be paid back, and ships as collateral are practically worthless "white Elephants, because the whole cruise Industry is struggling.
They will rebound but I don't believe the 2019 Cruise Line incomes are in the foreseeable future. -Tom
As long as they insist on segregating vaxxers(certified of course) and anti-vaxxers(?)[no cert or don’t want to show it], it may be a while.
52 days and a wake up until my cruise !!!
This is the first time in 18 months Ive got passed 60 days left without the wicked cancellation...
Now id they accept my request for an exemption...
Meanwhile theres suddenly lots of empty cabins available for summer cruises at very low rates...
>>I don’t believe the cruise industry will fully rebound in 2022. I don’t believe it will fully rebound in the next 5 years, if ever.<<
Blame it on those stupid mega-ships they are building. Every report I see on cruises has the same complaint: too damn crowded. Long lines for everything. Cannot use most of the facilities, including the pools and even the sun decks. Even getting off the ship for tours is an ordeal.
If I ever go on a cruise again it will be on one of the smaller lines/ships. The cruise I took in the 1980s was great.
The last cruise I went on (10 years or so ago) carried about 1,000 passengers and even THAT was too crowded. I cannot even IMAGINE 2,500 or 3,000 people.
Those ‘Around the World’ cruises didnt sell out in one day...I got EMails about them...They were presold at special prices about 6 weeks before they went on sale...
Plus the ships are less than half full...
I took a lot of cruises back in the day and I’d like to take them again. Lot’s of good food and I like to walk around the decks each morning and at night before bed. I have a lot of money so I’m happy to pay for the cruises. However, I don’t want to deal with the nonsense about masking and whether you were “vaccinated” or not.
Never been on one, never will.
Hi.
“How quickly can the cruise industry rebound?:
If they hav good LOCs in place, I’d say by Labor day.
5.56mm
When the ships return to the seas will there be requirement for all vaccinated passengers or just 95% ??? Over in Cruise critic they have been beating up unvaxxed for weeks. Even threatening just because they didnt want to have to wear a mask. Then The Mods put up this notice

New Policy: COVID-related Discussion

Effective immediately, COVID-related discussion should be limited to actual policy on board ships (and other forms of travel) and its practical application. Discussion should NOT veer into opinion or debate.
Every one of us has experienced the unprecedented restrictions, disruptions and changes to our cruise travel, work, shopping, schooling, social interactions and so many other aspects of our lives since the global pandemic began in early 2020. Frankly, we have been inundated with news, information, mis-information, frustrations and opinions. We’ve heard them, we’ve shared them, we’ve argued about them.
Over the past few months, we have heard from many of you that the discussions, debates and arguments about the virus, distancing and masking policies, various politicians’ statements and actions have been overwhelming and divisive. Many topics have derailed or devolved into arguments. Cruise Critic understands the passion you all have – we have it too! — and we are confident that we’ve moderated with a light hand and most discussions have run their course. However, there simply are better places on the web to learn about — and debate — scientific, medical and political issues.
The good news is….we now have a great deal to look forward to! Cruise (and travel) is beginning to open up again and it is time to refocus on why we are here: our love of cruise! So, here are the specifics:
We will NOT welcome debate or opinion about medical, scientific, or political aspects of the pandemic. There are a few often repeated trigger items that won’t be allowed:
No statistics about infection rates,
no discussions about where the virus may have started,
no dialogue about individual rights,
no commenting about after-effects of vaccinations,
no debate about whether vaccinations or masking are effective,
no anti-vaxxer or pro-vaxxer comments of any kind,
no discussions about which governor or politician or news personality did or said what.
We will welcome information on COVID policies RELATED TO CRUISE. Things like:
vaccination policies issued by individual cruise lines, venues or destinations,
cleaning or distancing procedures in use, practical tips for cruisers or things they might need to know that are different from ports of call to embarkation ports are all valid topics.
official policies issued by cruise line, travel destinations, airlines, etc. regarding requirements for boarding or shore excursions can be shared. This information needs to be on-topic for the specific forum and thread where posted.
We understand that you may be passionate in your opinions on this topic and want to discuss or debate them, and appreciate your understanding that there are more appropriate places than the Cruise Critic Community to do that. If, however, you are here to talk about the most passionate of vacation travel — cruising — let’s get on with it!

This week something very funny happened. Nasty posts from the anti-mask vaxxed crowd are not deleted but any slightly suspicious or even innocent posts from other people are. It appears that Cruise Critic is very pro-active when it comes to coercing people to get vaccinated but not as pro-choice and all inclusive as they claim. They are as political as they claim we are not to be.
Nothing has changed except the deletion of posts that dont readily agree with those of the vaxxed posters, that the unvaxxed are the enemy etc
