The head of the police union in Portland shot back against new criticism from City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty - who has spearheaded the local defund police movement - over the recent resignation of all 50 members of the police riot squad, arguing her self-serving agenda endorses violence, “instead of defending our communities and the business owners whose livelihoods were destroyed by the riots.”
Portland Police Association Executive Director Daryl Turner argued in a statement issued Friday that “roving gangs of black-clad rioters do not speak for the hundreds of thousands of residents and business owners of Portland who want a safe and clean city. Yet local politicians supported them.”
“These rioters, bent on destruction, hijacked social and racial justice movements,” he continued, before calling out Hardesty directly. “These rioters burned and looted our city. Yet local politicians supported them.”
“Instead of recognizing the value of public safety, peace and order, Commissioner Hardesty has used the occasion to promote a self-serving, anti-police, anti-public safety agenda,” Turner said. “Instead of defending our communities and the business owners whose livelihoods were destroyed by the riots, she continues to endorse violence. Plain and simple: Portlanders want our city back.”

Call me when the Police Unions STOP all of thier Officers from providing Protection Details for Elected Officials.
I have been saying for at least a year that police that all the police should quit and then set up a private security company to serve those who want to be protected and are willing to pay for them along with a dedicated team of lawyers to represent their private security agents from the inevitable attacks. Probably should even set it up as numerous small companies so a single incident could not be used to shut them all down. Also would need to unionize and prevent competition by scabs willing to provide security for elected officials who hated them as police. A smart businessman could make a fortune and could probably go national in no time, even globally.
The police system as we know it is dead in the DNC sh*tholes by design. The people seem to be ok with it voting the same a-holes in office on one hand yet complaining on the other. police unions are also hypocritical and two faced.
A few funeral/memorial services and Portland would improve.
It's a simple choice. Do they want to be police officers, or the brute squad, and targets, of a corrupt regime?
How have the police unions not recognized the problem? I guess they didn’t mind being squeezed as long as they get their pensions. My guess is that the cops realize the city is gonna try and squeeze em out of pensions.
Admiring Handy Work: NBC Gawks at Low Cop Morale After Stoking Hate

As part of their “Future of the Force” series Monday, NBC Nightly News and anchor Lester Holt took a step back to admire their handy work, gawking at how morale in police departments nationwide was “at an all-time low.” Of course, this comes after the network spent over a year stoking hate of cops, backing the defund the police movement, decrying cops protecting their lives, and deceptively editing evidence of a just use of force to protect a civilian.
“After a year of facing unrest, more and more police officers are leaving the job. And many say morale has plummeted,” announced Holt, as if he had nothing to do with it.
Correspondent Gabe Gutierrez unironically filed his report from Portland, Oregon, which saw Antifa terrorists try to kill police by trapping them in the federal courthouse and trying to burn it down:
Since last July, at least 115 Portland officers left the force either by resigning or retiring. There are barely 800 left. Just last week, members of the city’s rapid response team resigned from the unit after one officer was charged with excessive force during a protest last year
That's their strategy. Put up with the crap. Then retire and move elsewhere. I would guess majority of the police union is eligible for retirement in 5-10 years. Young guys? They're on their own.
