Finding a Father

Posted on 06/20/2021 6:18:13 AM PDT by Mrs. Warrior

My husband and I met in high school. I had a stepfather who took delight in hurting people, once, after stacking two cords of firewood, he told me that I could not eat until I stacked two more. I realized he was trying to break me, to save my life I decided to run away from him so I jumped off a two story balcony and angels softened my landing.

I determined that I was going to try and find my dad. In the woods I heard God telling me to go back, that a rescue was coming to save me, so I returned. My husband-to-be had a father who was wonderful in most ways except that he was inflexible; it was his way or the highway and I helped lead my boyfriend to find salvation in Jesus. Both of our fathers had a knowledge of religion that they applied in a harsh way. My boyfriend's father kicked him out and he came to live with our family. His presence being there prevented what was meant to be the final breaking point, and he saved my life.

When we got married he read to me from the Bible in The Song of Solomon “come away with me my love”. His banner over me was love and he gave me a whole new world of freedom and tender love.

Later, as our babies were born, a parental instinct awakened upon seeing in the body of a baby the gift from a father in heaven who loves life through his tender love and care. In my husband I saw a father emerging into something so sweet and precious, this was the father figure I had been searching for!

We began teaching our children about God and Jesus in a gentle loving way as time progressed and we served our country in the army for more than 20 years,

Our children had married and we had grand children; when our grand daughters needed a father figure my husband loved them so gently I was moved with his compassion.

When my husband retired from the army he was working for a boss who was overworking him, and I saw him being stressed, and I told him you are not an indentured servant. It was my time to give him his freedom, and I wanted the man more than his income and I told him we will step out in faith and it is time for you to retire. We will walk in faith in the provision of our heavenly Father.

In the time we have being just him and I once again, now that our children are on their own, we read the Word of God together. Recently we dwelt on this passage: “we are accepted in the beloved, we are given a spirit of adoption that causes us to cry out “Abba, Father”.

Jesus came to us in such personal revelations of a heavenly Father who gave us the freedom to choose, to give our trust and heart to, it was grace, and finding together a Father who had our best welfare and who gave His only begotten Son who gave His life to make the way for us to become children of God, a Father who brought together two people searching for true love, and touched them in ways greater than they ever knew it was possible to be so completely full and blessed!

Amen.

Just as knowing what good is also teaches you about the darkness, you can learn often learn about love from those least capable of showing it.

Sometimes it’s helpful to not be so critical of everyone who has authority (fathers, bosses) — our Father in heaven is also not Santa Claus. He punishes sin and is in some ways the most strict Father you can have — this is love as well.

In other words, it’s a sign of maturity to not be so wimpy.

Never did hear if she found her real father, instead of that sadistic stepfather.

The overwhelming problems we face in our country now stem from two things: we have left the presence of God and many fathers have abandoned their children.

“... we have left the presence of God and many fathers have abandoned their children.”

This is so true.

My father didn’t really know a father, and did know love - but God reached out when my dad was coming to what should have been his end, and loved my dad, adopted and embraced my dad, and became my dad’s “Abba”, never letting go.

God brought the most beautiful and loving, and gentle and intelligent young lady to be my father’s wife, and to be my mother. My father and mother loved me beyond description.

After his relationship with God, my father once told me - one of the greatest gifts he could give me, was to through his life, show me how much he loved my mother.

I truly did not deserve the parents, and the love God poured out on me, through his life and love, and through the love of my mother and father...

My heart is truly broken, when I realize little people, and people of all ages, who need love, have no one on this earth to truly love them.

Apart from God, there is literally no love, and no chance.

You've never been in a truly abusive relationship, I gather. It's a sign of maturity to be humble and grateful for your blessings and not take pride in them by lecturing others less fortunate.

Everyday people rise above their circumstance. But the Bible does tell us about those that like to have their ears tickled. Sorry that you are of those that don't like criticism, no matter how valid. It is a genuine blessing you've missed out on.

I don’t mind constuctive criticism. Yours wasn’t. Nor was I defending myself, but rather the OP, who did not deserve your armchair psychoanalysis clothed in piety. If you want to lecture people, get a degree and compete for real clients.

It looks like time for you to stop lecturing. You don't know the OP, and neither do I. Conservatives give the benefit of the doubt to those in authority -- God, police, military, parents. Lib Flakes give the benefit of the doubt to BLM, criminals, disobedient children.

Sounds like time for you to take your ass down to Democratic Underground.

It”s not hard to look up who has been contributing—and who has not.
