I went to Canadian Tire to buy a knapsack, because the handle of mine had torn completely off and these knapsacks aren't really repairable once they become damaged with a big hole on the side.
For those who may not be aware of what Canadian Tire, it's a hardware department store that sells automobile services as well as automobile supplies, reasonably priced and quality tools, camping and sporting goods and seasonal furniture.
I had my face bandana on, but was not wearing it over my face. I walked through the store and found my knapsack and was walking towards tills when somebody walks up to me in a green hoodie and says, "Excuse me sir, why aren't you wearing your face mask?"
I replied while looking at him and walking towards the tills, "I think I will let a Canadian Tire employee tell me that."
He replied, "I am a Canadian Tire Employee", while he started unzipping his hoodie to show his red shirt in all its glory.
I replied, "I think I will let a Canadian Tire manager tell me that."
That's when he replied, "Whatever."
I was hoping that he would call a manager, to which I would have respected, because I needed the knapsack more than standing on principle.
To me, that's really the way to get the mask mandate ended, just keep driving up the costs of time and effort to enforcing it. At some point, it becomes pointless to enforce it.
I went to crappy tire on Sunday.
Crowd control employee allowed me to walk into store with mask in pocket
Millenial chirped at me to put my mask on.
I told him he knows less than nothing and I would take direction from a store employee.
Store employee popped up and ask me to put on my mask
I would tell him to go find a manager and keep on with my shopping.
In my mind, the point of resistance should be to drive the cost of enforcing the policy to the point of where nobody bothers enforcing it.
Yeah, lots of lost souls scared sh1ltl3ss about the flu
Last spring, just as this was breaking, I was walking about my neighbourhood.
30’s women walking towards me, realizes we are on the same sidewalk.
She leaps to the side to create distance.
When we passed, could not help but notice her Marty Feldmen eyes. Pure terror
It is, as fascism is textbook defined.
In the 90s I had a remote office in Toronto and enjoyed my sales trips to Canada.
My brother in law and our sons drove 600 miles north of Ottawa and then had a bush pilot fly us another 100 miles into a fishing camp.
The best pike and walleye fishing...anywhere.
There is no fresh water fish as tasty as walleye from the cold waters in Northern Canada.
But, you are correct about fascism in Canada, the gummint is way too involved in industry {and everything else}.
The left is very crafty. They knew that it would be difficult to beat all Americans into total submission. (Not Canadians. They would not show any resistance.) So they came up with a plan. The plan would have many benefits, but the big one would be forcing the folks into unquestioned compliance, and carrying around a very visible sign of their subjugation.
Voila the mask!
The mask, which slowly suffocates you and does not protect from any infection, would be commanded, and the penalties would be huge - way out of proportion.
The major effect of the mask on me was to harden my total distrust of government.
When I can look around and see at least one person, sometimes staff, with their nose hanging out and not being challenged, then yes they can take a flying leap.
Have you read Faucis own writing from the early 2000s about how wearing masks during a viral outbreak can be dangerous for healthy people?
If they told you you had to wear your underwear on the outside of your pants in order to enter the store, would you do it? From your response, sounds like a yes to me.
I spent my day in New Jersey yesterday. Surprisingly, no masks just about anywhere.
Not only masks, but the silly and wrong edicts put out by health officials and politicians. One of my favorites is the loan surf boarder being arrested at a remote California beach. When golf was first allowed to be played in Illinois, only 2 people were allowed in a group and tee times were 20 minutes apart. Golfers had to walk and were not suppose to over take the next group. At that point I knew the people in charge were clueless and just making stuff up to look like they were doing something..
Van Morrison and Eric Clapton are united in pushing back and calling out the lies; “Stand and Deliver!”
There is a possibility he had to take a loan to pay for a lawyer..
No, no underwear - not mine at least!
Agree, Fauci is a weasel and he has done tremendous damage to the reputation of public health (well, at least my friend who is in public health says that).
If masks were required and I saw employees not wearing or wearing down under their nose, I’d go to a manger and say what’s the point of the sign or requirement.
I believe face masks at this point have become nothing more than a political statement. Especially for peoples of color.
From my observations, they continue to wear masks when I see them, regardless of where they are. I mean even outside while walking down the street or driving a car with no passengers. Go figure.
I know we aren't suppose to make personal attacks and I try to avoid doing so most of the time. You are just clueless and a busybody. Hardly anyone wears a mask correctly, especially for long durations. Thank God this useless edict has come to an end in my metro area of Illinois.
I appreciate that.
I’ve learned the value that another’s position only has validity if I recognize it.
Re: 54
I am a strong believer in private property rights. If the government is not telling people to mask up, and the property owner is - there’s basically two choices. Comply or leave.
Sorry that triggers you so.
I complied with mask usage policies while shopping, many didn’t. You are still a busybody...
A worker took my wife’s email address and we already heard from the owner who wants to meet us. Maybe a gift. I#ll take one of those 40€ steaks they sell to the rich people.I rode my bicycle to the beach yesterday because it was 90+ degrees.
Excellant point, thank you
