Broccoli is America’s favorite vegetable It’s no secret that everyone loves broccoli and now Green Giant has a survey to back it up.
the take out ^

Yesterday Green Giant revealed the results of a survey taken to determine America’s favorite vegetable. It turns out our nation’s number-one vegetable is broccoli. That seems right to me, because broccoli rules. The two runners up were carrots and corn. All these picks are excellent vessels for butter and cheese.

As always, there’s some fun tidbits thrown in with the survey. Tomatoes and cucumbers (which are both fruit, but who’s keeping track, really), were favorites in 2020, but didn’t make the 2021 list. While corn was chosen as the most popular vegetable in seven times more states in 2021 than in 2020, it still didn’t win. It’s also the favorite vegetable among Americans between the ages of 55 and 72. That’s oddly specific, but okay!

The West Coast couldn’t care less about broccoli; it’s all about the carrots over there, while folks on the East Coast are big fans of the cruciferous vegetable. In general, most people chose broccoli over all the other vegetables because they simply like the way broccoli tastes. At the same time, although it won, it’s losing ground to carrots: the number of states that picked carrots as their favorite increased by 500% this year, while broccoli’s popularity fell by 23%.

Fresh spinach salad with mushrooms, bacon+ dressing of oil and vinegar. Love
Fresh spinach. Will eat frozen spinach, but as for canned...
forgetaboutit! Popeye is welcome to the entire case.

Broccoli is a favorite (fresh and frozen, as is asparagus (fresh only)

George H W Bush despised broccoli. Good! I’ll take his share.

A new squash to our farm market last year was honey nut...like butternut but smaller and much tastier. I couldn't get enough of it.

Beats both butternut and acorn....IMHO.

Company C, 2/12 Cav, Fort Hood ... we were still eating C-rations during our field exercises, 1975-1977. We didn’t see MREs until 1978, just before I transferred out of the infantry ...

Laughing...no one mentioned zucchini. I'm in Upstate but lived in Virginia for a year. Folks I met said all they knew about NY was to lock their car unless you want to find it loaded with Zucchini.

Is this based on what they sell? I like broccoli, but I like potatoes and zucchini more.

I read some time back that corn was no longer classified a vegetable by some foodie outfit. It was changed to a starch (which makes sense).

But I’d sure put okra at the bottom of the list.

Likely because you don't batter and fry it. Okra and tomatoes is like eating snot.

“my favorite vegetable is asparagus.”

YEP! Especially with a bit of Hollandaise.

Although my favorite by far is tomatoes (but it’s a fruit.)

“no one mentioned zucchini.”

I kinda forgot about zucchini until recently.

Found this a few years ago, love this and will be making it tomorrow.

I cut it like french fries. Dip in egg and bread crumbs and fry in olive oil.

I use reg unseasoned bread crumbs and not panko...but everyone to their own.

So I sit at my computer...and munch. So good. Darn...now I want some. Tomorrow!!
