Hi All,
I don't post here often, but I would greatly appreciate some prayers for me and my family as we navigate the painful predicament we find ourselves to be in.
My 18-year old black short-hair cat, Salem, was diagnosed with feline leukemia last Friday. Over the last two weeks, he has progressively gotten more lethargic, has eaten less and less, and has been shedding quite significantly. We took him to our local veterinarian on Friday given these troubling symptoms and were informed of Salem's diagnosis by the vet.
Last night, we made the difficult decision to euthanize him this coming Wednesday as he has refused any form of solid food and the prognosis for Felv cats at Salem's age is simply too uncertain.
I ask that you pray for my family and my cat as we spend our last 24 hours together. I also ask for prayers for a peaceful transition to Heaven for Salem marked by comfort, fearlessness, and happiness.
Thank you all and God Bless.
My 14 year old cat Itchy passed away a month ago...I chose to keep him home and was with him when he passed. My heart goes out to you as I know how sad a time it is right now. Talk to God for strength and cliche as it is try to focus on all the beautiful moments God gave you and your family with your cat.I am still grieving and know just how close we get to our furry gifts from God. Stay strong as you can through this hard and unpleasant time.
I’m sorry for your loss. Putting down a beloved cat is very hard. I pray the Lord will fill the hole in your heart with many kind and warm memories of Salem.
What is the matter with you? First you throw shade on well wishers. Now you are going on about things that have nothing to do about this family and their cat.
If you are able, hold her or at least be right next to her as she passes.
I thought it was a bit nasty.
I will remember IF you ever ask for ‘prayers’... go down to the local spit and whittle club..
Well said!
I am so sorry to hear of this. My prayers to you and your kitty.
Me too uncalled for and I think the reply # 33 was really strange and weird, just me may explain the 1st.
??
The hardest one to put down was my 20-year-old kitty, who was really deteriorating and not happy anymore. Even so, on that last day, she ate part of my cheese steak sandwich (her favorite), and sat by me purring for hours.
I pray you will also have a nice last day together.
Terribly sad for you to lose beloved Salem. But he had a long and happy life thanks to you and will always live in your heart.
I was inconsolable when my beloved Andy had to leave the planet...then a month later, I fell in love with a kitten in a crate at a street fair and now Daisy rules the roost.
Been watching this and that was very strange and like one said delusional
i don’t think the original statement should have been pulled though. (#16)
The OP did not say anything that bad.
Just MY Humble Opinion. Feel free to pull this comment too!!!
Didnt see that. Me neither on yanking the post & let everyone see what a dick the poster is
Pulling it makes the replies senseless
I am so sorry. My heart breaks for you and your family. Your loved one will be waiting for you all in Heaven!!!!
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again - and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.
Couda been my post. Let me just say that the most well adjusted folks out there are lucky enough to share everything with one or 2 people. Everyone else to them is someone you put on a clean shirt for and be nice to. A James michner quote talking about his wife.
When animals are elevated to human status something is missing. Animals may seem like a family member but in reality they never can be.
when people post here or to message boards, anyone can answer you. Just because you are butthurt by the answer should not be a reason to have the mods pull a post.
Altho the MODs could have taken it upon themselves to do it without someone calling the waahmbulance.
Like your uncle or who ever said,”nothing nice to say say nothing”
You blew it in that regard
Some folks have no one or anything other than their pet.
Your fortunate if thats not you but unfortunate if you choose to denigrate those folk
I am done on this thread, sorry I stoped in.
I’m very sorry that you and Salem are going through this. You have made the right decision. While your heart is breaking, and it will, think of the years of love you have shared and be assured that helping your beloved friend go without suffering is the most selfless love you can give. I’ll be thinking of you both tomorrow.
Remember, it is not goodbye but “until we meet again”
Any place bearing the name Paradise must have our pets
It is not like the good book told you all you will encounter there, is it?
