In China, the rat race begins almost the minute you are born - from getting into a good school to getting that prestigious job. But millions now want to break free of this cycle, with two words shedding a light on the frustration felt by the younger generation.
"The young continue to feel if they don't work hard or participate in competitions they will be ousted by society, but they don't see a breakthrough for themselves despite their repeated efforts," said Professor Biao Xiang from the University of Oxford.
Billionaire Jack Ma previously advocated this 996 culture, calling it a "blessing". This, plus the investigations his company Alibaba was going through, led his reputation to fall from role model to a "blood-sucking capitalist", as some have described him online.
But another concept has now emerged - that of "lying flat" or "tang ping" in Mandarin.
Professor Xiang from Oxford suggested that these trends show the younger generation's desire to "give up meaningless competitions" and a need to rethink the old models of success.

996 = 9AM to 9PM, 6 days a week.
That 996 work culture will not work very long. For years I did 665, but it burned me out. Chinese are not super humans, they are like everybody else. My understanding is they are no longer reproducing at a rate to sustain their population.
I won’t be around in 50 years, but it will be interesting to see what their Workers paradise( and our non-workers paradise) looks like then.
The spoiled rotten one child syndrome.
They will use up with 30 hours of real work over a 72 hour work week.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the Chinese government gives their senior citizens two choices once they turn 72. The firing squad or emigrate. That’ll take care of their aging problem.
Maybe a trip on “Carousel.”
If the rewards are not worth the effort, then the effort will not be made.
The globalists are trying to take away God and country. If they succeed (they will lose to God) all they will be left with is apathy.
Is that from “Logan’s Run”?

In China, the rat race begins almost the minute you are born - from getting into a good school to getting that prestigious job.

Getting that prestigious job requires a college degree;
That prestigious job is often working for the CCP;
The CCP wanted more people with vocational skills, so it changed the name of the college degree to vocational - instantly ending any chance of the students to get any prestigious job anywhere;
As one might expect, protests broke out over this CCP created problem;
However, the solution for the CCP is (since this is ongoing) brutal suppression and arrests of the students.
That’s a taste of how things work in China under XI Jinping, aka Winnie the Pooh (saying that in China warrants arrest and imprisonment).
The spoiled rotten one child syndrome.

I think the kids would love it if that were there only problem; it certainly is for the Princes and Princesses, but they are in the minority.
The problems, like all problems in China today, are caused by the CCP. Their solutions only cause more problems; so the kids protest in the only safe way they can. Any other way is met with brutal suppression, beatings (sometimes to death), and arrest.
Of coarse that isn’t the only problem. It’s never just the one thing.
You are correct!
Of coarse that isn’t the only problem. It’s never just the one thing.

In China, there is just one problem the rules them all: the CCP.
