CNN's chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour revealed on Monday she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Amanpour, 63, shared news of her cancer battle at the top of the latest installment of her CNN International show.
'I've had successful major surgery to remove it, and I am now going through several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible longterm prognosis, and I am confident,' the veteran reporter said matter-of-factly into the camera.

did she have the ovaries removed when she had the hysterectomy?
did you have a biopsy or are they relying on imaging?
btw, if you have a cyst the size of a basketball it could lead to all kinds of problems. its putting pressure on other organs.
You have an organ called an omentum. It can stick to your ovaries and other organs. The fatter you are the more problem you can have with it.
I dont see that she has revealed the exact type of tumor or the staging.
Some are slow..some are fast.
They also tumors that can have less than 10 percent of a certain type of thing and that changes the classification in a pathology report.
Time has not been kind.
I despise this woman’s political beliefs and her absolute lies based on politics and not journalism which is mostly dead today. I wish her health and recovery and may we defeat her ideology on the field of political battle.
I just wish she would quit pretending to be a reporter and political analyst as opposed to a politician with an agenda.
I wish her great health due to her medical condition. I wish absolute destruction of her career as a reporter as she is not. She is just another partisan pretending to be a reporter of which she is one of many.
Oddly I would like to have lunch with this lady in front of other reporters and ask the questions of her that are never asked in public.
Ovarian cancer is the big red flag in families. Male or female you bypass others in the line for the BRCA test. I can’t remember if having a first degree relative no matter the age is enough under Obamacare.
A biopsy would be the surest way to tell. Better to be safe than sorry.
Is it AML( leukemia ) by any chance ? Quite often it’s the result of the chemo treatment itself for another cancer.
Oh, no!
My favorite part.
It can actually happen from sex. And then your organs start to fall out. Like your bowel.
I have never liked the War Slut and the fact that she’s on PBS supported by our tax dollars - when she is an America hating b*tch - is particularly galling. However, I do not wish this illness on her or even my worst enemy.
I had big cysts on both ovaries. Had them both taken out with DaVinci surgery. I was glad not to worry about it anymore. The surgery was not horrible.
Treated by some white supremacist oncologist no doubt.
You know, that was one of my first thoughts too. Or maybe the Iranian health system...
I am confused as to why she needs insurance if she is praising the NHS. I suspect she just didn’t rely on NHS
She was married to some Clinton Admin muckety-muck the name escapes me.
You can bet your booty she went to the very best private clinic for treatment. No way she was in a multi-patient ward in an NHS hospital.
yes, she did. Her 50th birthday will be July 3rd and she announced on FB that she is having party. I believe she is holding on to make it to 50.
