CNN's chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour revealed on Monday she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Amanpour, 63, shared news of her cancer battle at the top of the latest installment of her CNN International show.

'I've had successful major surgery to remove it, and I am now going through several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible longterm prognosis, and I am confident,' the veteran reporter said matter-of-factly into the camera.

“You still have a small risk of what’s called primary peritoneal cancer. The peritoneum is a covering that lines the abdominal organs, and is close to the ovaries. Since the peritoneum and ovaries arise from the same tissues during embryonic development, it’s possible that cancer could result from the cells of the peritoneum.”

That's the reason I posted that url.

Or a person researches other ways to kill cancers and utilizes that.

One that pops up is the one where you expose your blood to UV light and it beefs up white blood cells to attack bad cells, but it won’t attack the good ones, so less harmful than chemo obviously. They were doing this in the 50s, I haven’t heard much about it lately. It’s probably too cheap to have any medical facility want to use it.

What about if it was caught early on and had not spread outside of the parts that were removed?

The progress I described came from a friend who was diagnosed with "Stage 1" ovarian cancer in 2015. She did chemo and had a hysterectomy, then resumed her job teaching Zumba and managing a fitness center.

Fast forward to January of this year, and she started feeling full after eating very little. All this time she would get the ovarian cancer blood test (CA-125 I think) every 6 months, and the test this February was elevated. They did a colonoscopy and liver biopsy in March, and she posted on Facebook that it was in her liver, pancreas, and stomach lining. She began chemo the last week in March.

Two weeks ago she was rushed to the hospital for a bowel blockage and 3 feet of her colon was removed.

Yesterday she posted on FB that the doctors have told her there is nothing more they can do. She could stay in the hospital or go home, so she elected to go home.

It is a devastating disease.

“Who was her husband?”

A Clinton administration Assistant Secretary of State.

An example of pure corruption.

I am sorry to hear that. I don’t really like her but I certainly don’t want her to have cancer.

She was married to James Rubin, who was in the Clinton cabinet, until their divorce in 2018.

My mom died of ovarian cancer back in 2013. It was terrible. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Seriously?

I have two ovarian cysts. The one on my left side is the size of a basketball apparently. So far, benign.

But how do you know if it becomes cancerous?

Unfortunately you are correct. My MIL was diagnosed in 2017. She’s fought it for 4 years but now just developed leukemia. Not much time left.
