It seems that not a few people on this forum believe that destroying the Three Gorges Dam will hurt the CCP. It will not. The CCP cares only about its money, power, prestige, and face. The people it governs are just things to be used to their ends.

Propaganda. They are hoping their threats will make the west, japan, and Korea to withdraw support from Taiwan, and then a friendless Taiwan would give up peacefully.
Taking out a carrier is an act of war.
War with the west would destroy their economy.
