LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - June is known as Pride month, and it’s is about the promotion of the self-affirmation, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people as a social group, taking away the stigma and bolstering the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
On the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, those big picture changes start with meeting the most basic needs.
“We really just love the opportunity to make students feel more comfortable because statistics show there’s less rates of suicide and students just generally that are happier and more involved on campus and feel comfortable are going to finish out their degree and be more successful once they graduate,” Assistant Director of the Office of Student Life and First Year Experience Dylan Bogard said.
It’s part of the campus’ food pantry for all students, the Colonel’s Cupboard.
But, Closet TransForm focuses specifically on gender affirming clothing and accessories for LGBTQ+ students.
“This is the first year we were able to have some binders and packers that we could buy from some development funds and really be able to help students get those accessories that they need to feel comfortable in their own skin,” Bogard said.
The clothing bank is in the process of moving to a more accessible location in the Powell Student Center.
There, any student in need can walk in for things like food, toiletries, and clothing for free.
“If they’re a little bit shy or apprehensive, they can make a private appointment during some designated times as well,” Bogard said.
Each person served is one step closer to making every student at EKU feel comfortable on campus and proud of who they are.
“When they walk across the stage at graduation day, that’s what it’s all about, and we know that we’ve helped those students get there,” Bogard said.
The pantry is running mostly on donations.
Why has no one ever thought of this before?
The only thing the last year has made me want to do is beat a black person and a tranny...
I almost think that’s the goal.
What is/are gender affirming clothes? Isn’t that basically stereotyping and pigeon-holing people? Gay women need some flannel shirts and engineer boots. Gay men need leather vests and chaps.
Liberals are so self-conflicting I don’t know how they remain sane. Oops, guess I just answered my own question.
Transgender people have body dysmorphia, long recognized as a mental illness and often touted in the treatment of anorexia. No amount of hormones, gender affirming clothes or plastic surgery will cure a mental illness. Playing along with the gender pronouns just encourages the illness.
In other news, bake the d*mn cake.
Some day, we will come to Tevye’s realization that there is no other hand. It may already be loo late for that to have any effect, though.
They’re going to start the way of the past!!!!! History WILL REPEAT if they keep it up.
FTA: “We really just love the opportunity to make students feel more comfortable ....”

But you don’t care how uncomfortable the normal students feel, right?
All the perverts need to get back in the closet.
You are correct.
It is just as sick IMO to not only cater to these people but to poison them with drugs and help them mutilate themselves with disfiguring and crippling surgery. Doing this to mentally ill people should be a criminal offense. But instead it is celebrated.
Colleges are chock full of these useless staff positions and even more useless bread gobblers like ol’ Dylan here.
Free clothing. Free food. Free school supplies. That’s no way to create self proficient adults.
>>EKU runs clothing bank focused on supplying gender-affirming clothes
Why is it so BAAAAAD of a thing when gender-affirming clothes are nice masculine clothes for men or feminine clothes for women?
I suppose it’s because it doesn’t indulge their exhibitionism. Many just can’t be happy unless they’re making a spectacle of themselves.
They impose THEIR desires on others. Mens’ departments and Womens’ departments are being forced into compliance.
The majority prefers gender roles.
How can you affirm something that’s not true?
