Highlights
-On June 3, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) submitted comments to the Oregon Secretary of State challenging the ballot title language of Initiative Petition 13 (IP 13), which seeks to end all hunting, fishing, and trapping in Oregon.
-IP 13, if passed, would prohibit the injuring or killing of all mammals, fish, reptiles, and amphibians, unless it occurs as an act of self-defense. In addition to prohibiting hunting and fishing, this sweeping initiative would impact common animal breeding practices, research, and education.
-Once the final ballot title language is certified, initiative proponents can begin gathering the 112,020 signatures required to place the initiative on the 2022 ballot.

“End Animal Cruelty,” an animal rights activist group in Oregon, has proposed an initiative to be placed on the 2022 ballot that would eliminate all hunting, fishing, and trapping in the state of Oregon. Initiative Petition 13 (IP 13) would prohibit the injuring and killing of any mammal, fish, reptile, or amphibian, unless it resulted from an act of self-defense. The initiative would also make it a felony to engage in common animal breeding practices, including for domestic animals.
If passed, IP 13 would immediately impact Oregon’s 940,000 sportsmen and women who participate in the outdoors in support of conservation efforts, food procurement, and tradition. For generations, Oregonians from across the state have relied on Oregon’s rich natural bounty to provide fresh meat and fish for their families. The proposed initiative would also significantly impact the state’s ability to manage and protect its natural resources, wildlife, and public lands.

“From the initiative.”
No one could afford beef with a 20 years of feed and care to pay for.
And chickens? How long do they live?
Guess I’ll hold off on buying a new spey rod.
I am not being judgmental on a personal level. I fully realize that it is not possible to move away.
The American system of governance has failed. The rise of the city states has had a negative effect on people outside the cities in states all over the country. The people out side of the cities might just as well not exist because control of their destinies has been taken from them by an ideological majority .
What is interesting to me at present is what appears to be city states rotting internally to the point that political excess becomes a cancer that is destructive.
meanwhile 100% of them will go along with killing and dismembering of human babies just for convenience.
They passed a no trapping bill years ago in Washington State. Some lady had a petition outside the hardware store.
“Oh - this is a good place to be for signing this.”
“Yes - it’s very busy on a Saturday.”
“No - I mean because they sell traps here.”
“They do!!!????”
“Well sure. Rat traps, mouse traps, etc.”
“Ha ha - no those traps are okay!”
“What!? My son here (with me at the time) has a pet rat. You want to kill his little pet rat!!?? It’s the cutest little thing...”
Anyway - the stupid voters passed it (mob rule) and now mole traps are illegal (along with the actual target of fur traps, bear, etc.). But the chemical smoke bombs are still legal. Not sure why one can still buy mouse/rat traps. I guess some animals are more equal than others.
I wouldn’t mind if Portland banned the killing of rats. Let the rats and Antifa fight over the scraps of what is left.
I’m guessing that taking your sick and dying pet to the vet to be put down would also be illegal. What about hitting an animal that ran in front of your car? 3rd degree deerslaughter?
“and exits the world naturally and humanely”
These people really have no clue. I bet 98% of natural deaths in animals are anything but “humane”. Hmm- “humane” - probably is based on the word “human”. Too many Disney movies - trying to put a human idea (”humane”) onto an animal. Well - a wild animal anyway.
That said, when we do interact with animals it should be done in a humane way. Whether that is training a dog or killing a deer. Of course then that brings up different viewpoints on what is humane or not? Shock collars for training? Using dogs or bait for hunting, etc. (I’m for all of those btw).
Mouse traps
Fly shatters
Your car windshild
Which, of course, would also render it impossible to operate dairies.
Can I get me a hunting license here?
