PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Legislature has approved changes to the lyrics of Oregon’s state song to remove racist language and make the lyrics more inclusive.
House Concurrent Resolution 11, approved Monday by a vote of 47-6, modifies the lyrics, while keeping the same music of “Oregon, My Oregon.” If reflects the “significant cultural, historical, economic and societal evolution in Oregon” since the state song was adopted in 1927, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported.

Who cares, they can’t even pump their own gas.
Still racist!!!
How can they claim to be “the best” if all are equal!!!!
Tarnation!
Why have a state song if it needs to be continually changed with the whims of communists?
Oregon
We’re stuck between California and Washington
There’s a big bunch of water on the left side of the state
The crabs are really great
But they mostly live in Portland and light fires.
Oregon
There’ll be no resting until we’re done
We used to have logging but now it’s weed
That’s all we need
That and lots of burning tires
“...color me confused...”
RACIST!!!! RACIST!!!!!
Are you suggesting colored people are confused????
RACIST!!!!
The woman is deranged, and someone might want to ask just how she came to live in a place settled by others stronger then her.
Reminds me of the TV series “Amerika” where they put all the midwest states together and called them Heartland. Oregowellian.
I still know the lyrics—and I’ve only been back twice since my folks pulled up stakes and headed to Ohio in ‘99.
I’m surprised they survived this long.
Well, Amy, try learning about the Whitmans. It is pretty small potatoes as far as martyrdom goes, but it is what the State has, and can be grateful for having as little of that as possible.
Amy could also learn about the French-Canadians and how close Oregon came to remaining part of British North America.
Then she would have this to complain about:
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
It is much more in your face than Oregon My Oregon—your arm knows how to wield the sword and how to carry the Cross . . . we will protect our homes and our rights.
Play hockey.
13 is, in the grand course of things, peanuts. Oregon managed to neatly sidestep the Civil War just a bit more than a decade later.
If you want lots of violent bloodshed, think of the Yankees colonizing the CSA. My great-great Grandmother is buried in Salem, and is remembered by her surviving grandchildren (and was remembered by the deceased ones) as a very bitter woman. She grew up in Southern Missouri in the 60’s—she and Martha Ellen Young Truman would likely have shrugged the Whitman Massacre off.
Nope, me either. Didnt see any trace of it.
But i am not an elitist liberal marxist racist. So I dont possess the capacity to attain such a level of retardedness.
I loved playing Oregon Trail in high school...
And talking to my parents (who say that my Grandfather, who was a member of the Society of the Native Oregon Born [SNOB] is turning in his grave). He would belt the song out whenever he crossed into the state.
And FWIW—the Whitman Massacre happened in the part of Oregon territory that would become Washington. But you take what you can get.
I agree with you. Very rare that Oregon does anything reasonable.

Thanks! I was not familiar with that duo although who knows — I may have heard something similar as a child.
My grandfather had an old-school big radio next to his chair and used to listen to stuff like that. Of course they had a TV by then so he was listening to a bit less radio by the time I came along.
Daws Butler is familiar in the Hanna Barbera Cartoons of the 1960s.
Stan Freberg from radio, commercials, and other “bits”.
>>>Reminds me of the TV series “Amerika” where they put all the midwest states together and called them Heartland.
They did that in 2000 when Al Gore Junior LOST and they called flyover country “Jesusland”.
I haven’t seen this Daws Butler documentary in over 30 years. It used to air on PBS

Much obliged. I was not familiar with some of those voice actors.
I think I currently live in JesusLand, but it’s pronounced “Hey Zeus! land”
