What a great story! Thanks for posting. Gave me a much-needed chuckle. :-)

We have seven duck boxes on our lake property. Three or four of them have mom ducks with eggs!

We built both bathouses and bluebird houses this year. No bats yet, but 2 Bluebird families!
Also, my 6’ stepladder, leaning against the wall of my garage (under cover), has 3 generations of Robin nests piled up on it. A good spot, apparently!

I should add, our neighbor’s duck box emptied out mom duck and seven baby ducks. Hope the turtles leave them alone...

The hummingbird feeder I put up needs the nectar (4 cups water, one cup granulated sugar) refilled every three days or so. Hungry little suckers!

GAve me a smile and filled my heart with joy as I….insert shame here …grabbed a smoke out front.

The sound of mockingbirds imitating the sound of an ambulance…not an era of cellphones to record…but ah the memories. 😀

I just love them. Brave, little dudes. I know when my cats are near. They alert me.

They are also awesome bug eaters. Very agile.

Sweet, sweet birds!

Wrens and chickadees moved in. I’m worried about a chirpees breakout which spreads canarial diseases. Tweetments are rare.

Backyard bird/wildlife enthusiast, here. Saw this thread earlier, but was busy out in the yard planting in between rain showers. We just had a brood of baby Eastern Bluebirds fledge a few days ago. This is our third year of successfully watching the Bluebirds choose a nest box (we have 4 to choose from), build a nest, lay the eggs, and then watch them hatch, parents feed the babies, and then the nestlings fledge. Usually we get two broods per year in the same box (I clean them after the first brood fledges.)

This first photo is mama bringing a delicious bug to feed her babies.

This is one of the more ambitious babies taking a good look at the world before deciding to retreat back into the nest box.

I missed the actual fledging event for the 5 babies, but I was able to locate one of them in one of my gardens, thanks to Mama and Daddy inadvertently alerting me to the fledgling’s whereabouts.

We rescued a baby House Sparrow on our balcony yesterday who had fallen from the nest, almost featherless, and got itself wedged for hours in a place where the parents couldn’t reach it.

I haven’t had a sparrow in a while, so we took it.

After warming up and having a soft place to lie, it’s an angel - great eater, already loves me, and is going to grow up speaking pigeon, because the other bird in the room is jealous and rants the whole time I’m feeding this baby...

You are hilarious!! :) One of my neighbor’s outdoor cats used to stay at an old lady’s house on our street all day every day for extra meals. :)
