I had four chickadees fledges in early May from the first birdhouses I ever put up. :)

Now we have a Carolina wren’s nest with four newly laid eggs in it. We also have a newly built house wren nest (whole) in a different birdhouse.

What about squirrels that identify as birds?

Sparrows have finally gotten their nests built under the roof of my back porch. They made quite a mess during the construction phase, dropping nest makings everywhere. That’s over, and now they sit and chatter at me when I’m out having a smoke. I think I hear little ones cheeping.

I have a bird feeder. Does that count?

(I don’t even know what we’re talking about here)

We have multiple pairs of Kildeer nest on our property each year in the same places and they always have had successfully hatchlings. This year, no Kildeer at all.

Close enough, that counts as a free buffet for the birds! ;)

We’ve got some little ones that build their own house under our eves and I’ve left some dead, holey trees standing for birds and other critters.

I’d build a bat house before a bird house. Bats eat mosquitos.

And the Robin steals my worms like they belong to him.

Got wrens singing and nesting…cardinals love bushes.

I love them all.

Thinking of calling cops on Robin.

before vacation mid-may, we had a mourning dove nest in a flower pot out back (two eggs hatched after 19 days) and a mourning dove nest in front gutter (two eggs hatched while we were gone). empty nests upon our return.

It was nice they chose to nest with us.

Grackles in a wall vent above our bathroom. Not sure how they are faring. There is a new bunch of nestlings as of yesterday. Not sure if the first bunch survived. We cannot see in to the area. Parents work tirelessly.

We have house sparrow nests at each end of abandoned clothesline poles. (4) Also, a sparrow nest into upper garage. There is an abandoned robin’s nest, too. Think the young ones left awhile ago.

I have a well fed stray cat. He comes by in the morning for a snack. He wants wet food and not dry food. He gets wet food. He is not feral but obviously someones cat. He insists I scratch him behind his ears and rub his back. He is an old man like myself. He has trained me well. I suspect he hits up all the neighbors for a snack. I think he is a communist democrat living off the working class fools.

I like him. :)
