The decline in infections has been so encouraging that Israel lifted some of its last remaining coronavirus restrictions on Tuesday. Businesses can now operate at full capacity, and residents no longer have to show proof that they've been vaccinated to enter restaurants, sporting events, or entertainment venues.
Even before the new rule, Israel's schools were fully open, masks were no longer required outdoors, and mass gatherings were taking place across the country. Now Israel's only barrier to normal life is a requirement to wear masks in public indoor spaces - a rule that could be lifted as soon as next week, according to Israeli health officials.
"This is probably the end of COVID in Israel, at least in terms of the current strains that we know," Dr. Eyal Zimlichman, deputy director general at Sheba Medical Center, Israel's largest hospital, told Insider. "We've obviously reached herd immunity."

People are listening. Maybe not quite as fast as we’d like, but they’re doing it. 63% of adults have already gotten a COVID-19 vaccine and 86% of seniors have.
I think we’ll see 80% of adults by the end of this summer. That’s pretty good. Kids don’t seem to be very good vectors for transmission, which is wonderful news.

Herd immunity, which has protected humans since the dawn of time, can now only be obtained through vaccination.

The article states that Israel reached herd immunity with 60% vaccinated.
I recall you posting that they were having 100K infections daily. At that rate (and I’m going linear here) with a total pop of 9M, the entire country would have been infected in less than 90 days. That’s everyone from the age of 1 day up.
I know that 100k infections per day is the peak and there are less than 9M susceptible subjects. But given the high infection rates and comparatively low vax rate, wouldn’t you say that natural immunity might have something to do with their current good fortune?
