As promised, here are my antibody test results.
Link is to the test description, not my test. I'll paste my test results in the first comment. I had J&J on the 19th and had blood drawn at Quest yesterday (16 days later). My baseline test in late April was also negative.
Your test result was less than 1.0, meaning antibodies were not detected in your blood sample.
This could suggest the following:
Only one ping per test. I’ll get another test in a week or two, but disappointing to say the least.
Does that mean that the vaccine was a placebo and didn’t work.
My wife tested positive for covid in February and while I was not tested I had the same symptoms. We quarantined and are having antibodies test in a few weeks.
Interesting...Thanks for posting. Please keep us informed. I had the J&J, too.
The common anti-body test like the PCR test is not reliable.
I don’t see any test results.
You probably know this, but the Quest assay is very specific:
The anti-Viral capsid IgG and anti-Spike IgG will be positive in natural immunity; only anti-Spike IgG in vaccine immunity.
IgG starts to appear at about 10 days and peaks in weeks to months.
re-test in 2-4 weeks is appropriate.
If I may ask, what were they testing for...IgG, IgM, both? :-)
COVID-19 Antibody Test (SARS-CoV-2 AB IgG), Semi-Quantitative NEGATIVE
A test result that is less than 1.00 (Negative) means that antibodies were not detected in the blood sample by the test. This could mean that the individual has not been previously infected with SARS-CoV-2. The clinical significance of a negative antibody result for individuals that have received a COVID-19 vaccine is unknown. The performance of the test has not been established in COVID-19 vaccinees...
Thanks, palmer! :-)
Thank you.
Pcr detects targets that are dead, non infectious, alive, infectious, and he who defines the targets defines the detection. After decades in the lab I also must say gen 1 antibody tests are unreliable. In the old days we did serial antibody tests to see if you were acute or convalescent. Convalescent equals decline to non detectable levels of particular antibodies.
I would say the antibody test plus your total would tell you if the target was wrong. Having said all of that... be careful what you allow in your medical record. It can and will be used against you. I would never have a pcr test of any kind.
I have heard that since this is basically human trials that it’s possible that every so often a placebo will be given. Did you sign any paperwork before the shot. It supposedly says in the paperwork (in the fine print) that it’s possible you get a placebo.
It’s a bit early to have an IgG response. repeat the test in a couple of weeks
Have heard that a T-Cell test exists and can be taken if you are of a mind. It costs $150.00 (?) and is said to be accurate in that false negatives and false positives are generally not a problem with this test. A positive result definitively demonstrates immunity to SARS-CoV-2 even if an earlier antibody test came up negative.
For what it’s worth, the quest blood test did work for me. I got a test last year that was negative. Then suspected I may have had Covid last Feb, got tested again in March and it was positive.
Well hopefully it worked and you stay healthy. My wife and I have auto immune disorders and with the meds we take we can not take the vaccine. And I would not take it anyways. But that’s just my choice. We wore masks and social distanced but caught the covid anyways. Stuffy nose and was really tired for 5 days. That was it.
