Part of a massive animal skull washed up on a New Jersey beach on Memorial Day after a storm passed through the area, and authorities have finally solved the mystery as to what it is.
On Tuesday, the Island Beach State Park, in Berkeley Township, New Jersey, posted photos on Facebook of a massive skull with a beak shape some found to be reminiscent of a long-extinct dinosaur.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Island Beach State Park confirmed that it was the ventral, or lower, jaw and skull of a minke whale.

A minke whale....how exciting...Is it an endangered species...should we block off 2 million acres of ocean??

Had to be a Democrat.

Minke whales are a very vocal species. In an earlier life working in airborne sonar we heard their distinctive songs all the time.

My wife always wanted a Minke stole for some reason. I don’t guess that was retrievable though.

It was clearly a whale skull. If you don’t know what a whale skull looks like, that’s totally ok, but to any marine biologist or even a person who goes to a lot of museums or aquariums it’s obvious. Why not say “Whale skull washes up on beach.” The people who don’t know what a whale skull looks like will be interested, and the people who do will still be interested.

Use of the word Mysterious makes it click-bate. How about: “Mysterious Man clams to be President—moves into White House.”
“Mysterious Doctor says he has all the Covid facts.”
“Mysterious woman, declared herself Vice President.” or
“Mysterious Pollster can read the American people’s mind.”
