Fewer American babies were named 'Karen' last year than any year since 1932, after the name became a pejorative slur for white women who throw fits in public.
Data released by the Social Security Administration shows that last year, just 325 newborns were named Karen, which represents 0.019 percent of total female births in 2020.
Karen, which had already been declining in popularity for years, plunged from the 660th most popular female name to number 831, tying for the 13th sharpest decline among all female baby names.
The name Karen peaked in popularity in 1965, when 32,873 Karens were born, representing 1.799 percent of all female births.

My sister named Karen died in 1960 at age 8. My parents are gone now and wouldn’t have understood what they did to that name. My father visibly mourned till he died in ‘06.
I recall when just about every other girl was named Linda. But that name is now rare among young people.
I am kind of partial to Trixie, or Star or Crystal
She went to prison.................
My wife is named Karen. Her birth was in before the peak, in 1964. :-)
She HATES the new “name shaming”.
Girls in my class were named Deborah, Louise, Sheila, Linda, Margaret, Sherry, Beverly and Cathy...........Don’t hardly see those kinds of names anymore.................

Whatever happened to Sally or Susan?
Makes sense as many of the women throwing fits in public over mask-wearing tend to be in their 50s.
Names, I believe, are cyclical. Some go in and out of fashion. For a while, very few boys were called William, Robert, Andrew etc... but I’m hearing that name a lot more now. My Mom considered the name “Deborah” for me... my maternal Grandmother thought it was “new” and “sounded stupid”. What is old will become “new” again at some point.
I bet no one would find that funny and it probably wouldn't make it into mainstream advertising as the Karen meme has. Just sayin'.
In 32 years of teaching I never taught a girl named Martha.
We had Susans but no Sallys...................
MARTHA!....................... SLOWLY I TURNED............. STEP BY STEP....................
“She HATES the new “name shaming”.”
Spot on.
The use of Karen in name shaming is a racist practice from the 60/70s in the South, today that has been adopted by many in the white culture.
Blacks would label white women Karen, who they did not agree with. It is sad to see so many white folks to pick up this racists practice. I guess White Folks want to be politicly correct and accepted by the left now days.
You will see people label Karens on FR regularly now.
Not many boys named Adolf either.
“Deborah” is a Bible name!
Deborah was a Judge in ancient Israel BEFORE they had a KING!.......................
Same thing that is happening to Meghan and Heather.
One name I wish would come back into vogue is Nannette.
