Apple Inc will continue to scale up its global retail presence as physical stores help create a connection with consumers, a company executive told Germany's Funke Mediengruppe (via Bloomberg).
What Happened: Despite a growing preference to buy online during the COVID-19 pandemic, the iPhone maker sees merit in adding more physical stores, Deirdre O'Brien, senior vice president of retail and people at Apple, told Funke.
The Cupertino, California-based company runs about 500 Apple stores globally of which about 100 are in Europe.

[singing] I did it myyyyy waaaaaay.
Until very recently their stores, at least the one in Reno, was a couple people hiding at the door to help you at a table there. What a joke.
Apple stores are usually very busy. I’d keep at them too. Great advertising at least.
Busy with sales or untrained staffers trying to help people recover their accounts?
I really like my Apple store. I’m going by tomorrow to drop off my computer. it is always jammed.
I just went to the darkside (andriod) after being on iphones since they came out.
Loving it.
Apple needs to keep the brick and mortar stores to help all the Apple users with their products. Buying a phone is one thing, using it is another.
It’s probably a bit of genius, since people (even the mask bullies in my family) are sick of not going places. Also, bigger-ticket items are something people prefer to see, touch, try out in person. I’d imagine that lease costs have crashed...
I like to store shop. However I will not ever buy a Apple product in a store or online.
Doesn’t matter. Always a good customer contact mechanism.
I totally despise Apple - its culture is true satanic evil.
Stores are far more about hands on and support and training than anything else... and every one of them makes Apple money, directly and indirectly.
Always packed especially on weekends
Apple is the only large company I have called in nearly 20years where the support person on the other end clearly spoke English as a first language...
I grew up in the 80s and had a Commodore. Apple was overpriced junk compared to my computer back then...
However today, they clearly have done a lot right.
Apple at one point had so much cash on hand and no debt.. they literally could have not taken in another dollar of revenue and kept operating for 10 years just from their cash reserves.
I think Cook has harmed the company in many ways, but they are still going strong
I respected Jobs.
Cook, OTOH, is pure satanic evil. Spit!
Their stores are also home to their local business consultants. You don’t see them but they are behind the scenes.
Yup. Also, it's smart imho to have a human face for a tech retailer, particularly given their market share.
