University of Louisville Study shows masks did not slow spread of coronavirus: Researchers also found numerous negative effects

State mask mandates did not help slow the spread of COVID-19, according to a news study by the Univesity of Louisville.

The study, based on CDC data covering multiple seasons, pointed out that 80% of U.S. states mandated masks during the COVID-19 pandemic," Townhall reported

While "mandates induced greater mask compliance," the researchers said, the mandates and the use of masks "are not associated with lower SARS-CoV-2 spread among US states."

"Our findings do not support the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 transmission rates decrease with greater public mask use," the report said.

Th researchers found that "masks may promote social cohesion as rallying symbols during a pandemic, but risk compensation can also occur."

Among the risks:

• Prolonged mask use, more than four hours a day,
  "promotes facial alkalinization and inadvertently encourages dehydration, which in turn can enhance barrier breakdown and bacterial infection risk."
• British clinicians have reported masks to increase headaches and sweating and decrease cognitive precision.
• By obscuring nonverbal communication, masks interfere with social learning in children.
• Likewise, masks can distort verbal speech and remove visual cues to the detriment of individuals with hearing loss.

We are a nation of fools. The majority of the population have no critical thinking skills and will do what ever they are told. Example, in my state the mask ban was recently lifted. Went into a large grocery store (Americans) and 99% of the people still had masks on, note the store no longer required them. Same day went into a large Russian grocery store, 5% wearing masks. Asked about it and was told the Russians grew up knowing the government lies and they do not believe what is told to them. The people I was talking to then laughed and said we are also fighters, not like you. Makes me sick to see people walking around the stores in fear of their lives when it never was needed to begin with and is now no longer is required.

I could have told you this. I use to give blood regularly at the blood center located a mile from my home. But since the pandemic started, they have required everyone to wear face masks. I haven’t given over the past year because the face mask raises my pulse too high for them to allow donations. If they want a pint from me, end the mask requirement!

You raise a good point.

What happens if you need a blood transfusion and the donor had a shot? Are we going to be told this? One could receive contaminated blood and not having had any shots, be exposed to it anyways.

If masks are as effective as the Scientism crowd claims, Fauci has blood on his hands for advising people not to wear masks at the outset of the pandemic. Plus, the way all masks are lumped together is further evidence that the mask mandates, public and private, are not grounded in science. If masks are so effective, why wouldn’t there be an emphasis the production and widespread distribution of N-95s and N-100s instead of acting as if people are protected by flimsy bandanas, dollar store “surgical” masks, overpriced designer masks, etc.

Then, the biggest and most dangerous problem can be shortness of breath. That can lead to passing out, getting dizzy or increasing CHF problems.

Any or all of the above probably reduce your ability to not get a covid infection.

Seeing the same here in AZ. Absolutely baffling. Beautiful late May afternoon last weekend and just about everyone I saw outside was wearing a Social Control and Obedience Device on their damned face.
