I'll provide the wind. First I'll try to choke him to death with heel dust. Second I'll spray bear spray behind me with my special propellant. As a last resort, I'll respond with violence. Watching old Bruce Lee movies, I have a special maneuver in mind he won't see coming.
I've been in grizly country, but I'm from East Texas. Grizzly's and big wild hogs attack the same. They will mow you over first, then turn back to finish the job. If you use bear spray, that bear is still going to mow you over with speed and momentum. Your gambling on whether or not you got enough spray in it's face to convince it not to come back and finish you off. And, if the wind isn't at your back, forget the bear spray. In every case, bear spray isn't nearly as effective as a magnum gun.
Always go camping with a slow friend...................
“We have Black Bears in Florida. They are a protected species. We are up to our ears in bears..................”
Blow gun
Right. The investigators SHOT the bear when all seven of them could have whipped out their cans of bear spray.
“one could rub a small cannister of propane with bacon grease. Wonder how that would react.”
I think it would work as well, you just couldn’t tell which bear bit down on it.
I’ve never tried it but I read an article by a guy who did and he said it worked great.
I know when I was in a camp with a bunch of bears around the bears would chew on cans in the trash to get to whatever was inside.
I prefer my Bear Spray to be old-school US Govt in the .45-70 kind. I have a Marlin 1895 and recently picked up a Sharp’s 1874 replica in .45-70.
Thank u for the laugh. holy cow...
I never saw it, glad it was reposted!
There was a more recent attack, within the past week.
Two grizzlies mauled a guy near Mammoth Hot Springs, no peoples dead, one bear killed.
Must be the bear spray doesn't cut it for the rangers.
Pre-Remington Guide Gun here!๐
Dogs are good to have in bear country. Bears don’t like dogs.
Here in northern Alberta we have monster wolves, bears (both types) and wolverines etc.
We practice the three S’s religiously.
Yes.
I laughed out loud when I read the part about the bear spray. That’s guaranteed to screw you over. They’re even admitting it now in some professional circles up here.
Bear spray will get you killed.
Like Larry said, carry a big gun, and be effective with it.
When I was working the G7 summit, I was patrolling the inner circle, near the cabin all the idiots were in (Bush, Harper, retards etc, but now I’m just repeating myself). At first I was carrying my C7 (select fire 5.56mm)but after one patrol, I realized that I was under gunned should I meet something non friendly. I went to the CQ and signed out a good ol remmy 570. I felt way better.
We ended up putting a grizz down with a Tac .50 because it kept coming into camp.
Biggest problem with the “take a gun” line when in a National Park: you’re far more likely to suffer a grave encounter with a bureaucrat than a bear - as in entering a “no gun zone” with a gun is a felony. Fumbling with a gun to store it in a car is probably more likely to cause serious problems than odds of bad bear encounter.
Don’t get me wrong, a .308 or 12ga is my preferred bear repellent. That bear spray is a condiment (I’m happily growing Trinidad Scorpion peppers now) doesn’t make other [legislative] threats easily ignored.
BTW: note that it was Obama who gave us National Park carry (albeit with building restrictions). GOP hasn’t done $#!^ for federal RKBA.
I’ve seen that gif before, and it’s hilarious every time!
Was this you per chance? heh
Bear spray is a shotgun....
