I’m only airing this on this public forum because I’ve never encountered it to this degree before. Here’s the story: new neighbors moved in about three months ago in my semi rural, large lot residential neighborhood in the outskirts of my large city. I’ve lived here exactly 14 years now, and in that time I’ve experienced a level of quiet peace that most people would envy. The sounds of nature is about as loud as it gets, discounting the occasional Harley or ricer racing down the nearby thoroughfare.
The neighbors are a large family of, shall we say, south-of-the-border derivation, and have had several loud outdoor after-dark parties, complete with the amplified Hispanic loud-bass music in the maddeningly plodding rhythm that we’ve all heard. They also keep a couple of medium to large dogs outside who bark sporadically throughout the night (they are tethered, which is another issue.) They also brought with them at least one rooster, which begins crowing loudly at 4:30 AM each morning. The parties include a lot of loud drunken yelling in Mexican and very loud laughing and conversation. The bedroom wing of my house is adjacent to our shared property line, about 45 feet away. I hear it all.
Before I go on, I want to make it clear that I am one of the biggest live-and-let -live people on earth. I reached out to them when they moved in to introduce myself and let them know who I was. They were standoffish from the start, however.
The last party, about a month ago, went past midnight, and I finally called the police to lodge a complaint. I figured if they somehow were oblivious to the city ordinances against unreasonable noise, and oblivious to the fact that the noise was disturbing a neighbor, they would need to know about it and make a decision. But, here we go again.
I love farm life and animals and can live with the rooster crowing and occasional dog barks, but this is developing into a persistant pattern. Am I being a “Karen” by reporting them? One part of me wants to be tolerant to a fault. The other part of me says that they have absolutely ZERO consideration for the peaceful enjoyment of their neighbors, so screw them.
Anyone with a similar problem?
There’s a series on Discovery ID called ‘Fear Thy Neighbor’. True accounts of horror stories about horrid neighbors. Never ends well. You might want to think twice before confronting them if that is what you decide on.

I’ve been dealing with the inconsiderate jackasses across the street from my house for the last six years. Every time they either leave or arrive in their vehicles, their stupid bass is booming.
Sadly, we don’t have a noise ordinance.
I do like the loud horn idea mentioned above, though.
Build an earth berm up on the noisy side
Then put a solid wall stone or cement fence up on top of that as high as you can go
Get triple pane windows
Get some ultra high freq devices and beam them at the troublemakers, they will get headaches and the kids will cry

This reminds me of steps I took to deal with a couple loud kids who lived in the apartment one floor above me.
They would play the radio LOUD every day & night.
I had an FM wireless transmitter. I would remove the tuning slug and would insert a metal rod back into the tuning slug hole and move it up and down rapidly. No matter what station they would tune to this would make their radio tune & de-tune till they eventually shut the thing off.
One night, I just tuned to their frequency - which essentially turned the radio OFF.
Early in the morning, I turned off the transmitter and blasted THEM out of bed with their own radio.
Next morning, I saw one of the guys coming downstairs with their stereo receiver - off to the repair shop...
Rd later.
I took the muffler off my tractor and ran it up and down the property line mowing.
At five AM one morning after the neighbors had a very loud party till three am.
About 50 feet from where they were all camping.
We came to a understanding :)
OR, for much less money, you can build your own.
I know a guy who was having awful problems with loud, rude teenagers congregating on his street, smashing a soccer ball against a rollup door as late as 1am on summer nights. Pleading with their parents didn't stop it. Calling the police failed too. So this gentleman, using an old tablet to generate a sweeping, slightly out of phase audio tone at 12Khz, a cheap, Chinese 100W power amp and a large bank of supertweeters (total cost around $60), set up his creation and aimed it at the spot the little pricks congregated.
The next day, they started their peace-wrecking routine. He turned on his rig and cranked the power amp up. He could hear nothing - but they sure could.
Suddenly, all went quiet. He looked out the window and observed the pricks holding their ears, looking at each other with distressed looks on their faces. They left. He had to repeat this show just a few times to permanently quiet them. (Pavlov's Dog isn't just a theory, it's a usable concept)
This gentleman told me that to make it effective for all age groups, simply set the tone frequency to 5Khz.
I think your scumbag neighbors would enjoy it, and all you'd have to do to not be affected by the maddening, nausea-inducing tone would be to wear earplugs. I'd let it run ALL night and would flip it on every time they started blasting music.
BTW, the unit can be easily camouflaged.

Victor Davis Hanson has written about the exact problem you are having and the lack of response by authorities in the two tiered justice system in our country currently. Also the danger that you are in if you push back.

Keep calling the cops on their illegal behavior. Get your neighbors to do the same.
You tried to make nice at first and they shut you down. Very possibly they are hard racists. Many Mexican immigrants are anti-American, end anti-WASP.
Do not interact with them any more. They are a-holes, and facing down a-holes just turns them into even bigger a-holes. With a-holes, it’s most often a no-win situation. Sorry.
I’m from southeast Michigan, watched Detroit’s disease spread into the suburbs, lowering housing values and neighborhood standards. Sad, and impossible to stop.

I would give it a little time, but not much before I moved. We had this in the neighborhood we lived in. Everyone followed the norm. If there was going to be a late party, it wouldn’t have mattered because everyone was invited.
Until some SOB’s showed up. Not sure how they afforded the house but their occupancy rate was twice any other house on the block. They had some late night parties early on, like anyone might do showing off their new digs......but then they got the picture pretty quickly.
Check your ordinances. Do the local codes allow farm animals and livestock? If not become an activist. The area we lived in banned the ice cream trucks and their insanely irritating jingle and our kids had plenty of ice cream. Sometimes you have to fight for quiet.
Then vote with your feet. Middle class values flight is the right way to look at it. White flight was invented by racists who simply don’t want to give a damn about social norms. If that is racist, then they have can have the hellhole you are leaving.
Get giant speakers, and ten minutes after their music stops, start blasting rap or country music in their direction.
Your other choices are 1. Move 2. Live with it 3. Get ready for Hatfields and McCoys.
After several calls to Law Enforcement for noise/parking/trash/etc to establish the nuisance the plaintiff petitions the Court and, if successful, a bond of $20k is required of the offender which is forfeit the next time the Police are required. After that the renter/owner can be forced to vacate.
I didn't know about this when I had a Meth head move into his family's old shack near me. I just told him and his grandfather I would shoot him in the head the first chance I got to do it without going to prison. He was gone in a week. He's a ward of the state until 2028.

This is a pretty clever idea.
Not trying to minimalize your situation, but whenever we answer a late call at any size apartment building it never fails, at least one or two are absolutely BLASTING that music. Can be heard two floors up or down.
