‘Hero’ 11-Year-Old Girl Speaks Out After Fighting Off Brazen Attempted Kidnapper Who Was ‘Caught Blue-Handed’ [Pensacola, FL]

A shocking video from Tuesday showed an 11-year-old girl bravely fighting off a man who was trying to kidnap her at a school bus stop in Escambia County, Florida. Now Alyssa Bonal is speaking out about what was going through her mind at the time and what she remembered about the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jared Paul Stanga.

“What is he going to do with me? Where is he going to […] where am I going to be at? What is my family going to think?” Alyssa recalled thinking, telling WKRG that she was “scared” and “anxious.” But Alyssa had her thinking cap on at the time and made sure that the suspect was “caught blue-handed,” as her mother Amber Bonal put it. Alyssa was playing with a blue slime toy when the suspect attempted to drag her into his vehicle.

“He had a knife in his hand. I tried running off but he grabbed me. He took me with his arm and I was able to get him down to the ground and I was able to get away,” Alyssa said. But the blue slime ended up playing a role in Stanga’s arrest. He allegedly had blue slime all over his arms when he was caught. Apparently, the girl’s binge-watching of the TV show Law & Order: SVU gave her the idea to leave some evidence behind.

“Her first words were, ‘Somebody tried to kidnap me. He grabbed me by my throat and he had a knife.’ She said she was able to kick and she tripped him and freed herself,” Amber Bonal said in an interview with the Pensacola News Journal. “She said, ‘Mom, I had to leave some sort of evidence behind, like on Law & Order SVU.’ We’ve watched probably every episode on Hulu. She’s a smart cookie, she thinks on her toes. She got that slime everywhere.”

Amber Bonal also told the News Journal that she recently and seemingly out of nowhere had a conversation with her daughter about what to do in a situation like this.

“Ironically, on Sunday, the neighbor’s little girl was over at our house, and I don’t know how or why it got brought up but I was telling them that if anyone ever tried to abduct you, you kick and scream and bite and yell,” the mother said. “I don’t care if they have a knife or a gun, you get away and you find the first open door, and she said that that was what was going through her head when the man grabbed her.”

Stanga allegedly had a knife; Alyssa could be seen kicking, pushing, and punching her attacker before he gave up a drove away. Then Alyssa found the first open door nearby. It was her neighbor Douglass Rudolph’s home.

“She comes running around the corner toward me hollering my name and some guy was trying to get her,” Rudolph told WKRG.

Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said at a press conference on Tuesday that Alyssa is his “hero.”

“My message to her is that she’s my hero,” he said. “My message is that she did not give up. She did the right thing. She fought, and she fought, and she fought, and she never gave up.”

“It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what [Stanga’s] intentions were, but they were not good,” the sheriff said. “So a life was saved.”

Records show that Stanga was booked in the Escambia County Jail on Tuesday night and faces three charges: attempted kidnapping of a child under 13, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and battery. His bond has been set at $1,505,000.

Put that scumbag in open population. The inmates will handle it from there.

Good job. She was smart to mark him with evidence. A happy ending for a brave young girl.

How many other children fought hard, only to be taken away? This creep probably worried other people driving by might see him.

The last public hanging in Florida was in my county seat, on the courthouse lawn, around 1917 +/- or so.

Newspaper accounts of the time called it a ‘fair-like atmosphere’ people came from 50 miles away, with their CHILDREN, with picnic lunches, food vendors, etc.................

What a brave, smart kid Alyssa is! A hero and example, for all!

Praise God she is okay, and, bless her mom for planting the seed of action.

We would they offer to bond this guy out at all? His acts were clearly caught on video.

Wonder how many times a child didn’t escape from him.

Wonder how many times a judge let him back out on the streets.

Imagine if people who tried to vote twice on election day were tripped up at the polls as they attempted to commit fraud by having "blue" hands from their first visit through the process?

Some slime tried to grab my 13 year old gear in the middle of the Target store in the broad daylight but she was able to outrun him and get to me, two aisles over. I found the guy and he just smiled and said "what's the big deal?" and ran out of the store.

I was unable to chase him - crippled right leg and I needed to stay with my daughter who was very shook up. I also wasn't carrying that day.

Called the police, but the responding officer berated my daughter saying "how do you know that he was trying to grab you?" and never bothered looking for the guy.

She's a little older now and I always carry.

Given the amount of that bond I don’t think this guy will see the outside of a prison for a long, long time. If ever.

Good stuff actually does happen almost daily. Local news outlets have always gone with, "If it bleeds, it leads" or "Carnage to Cover".

Other than the MSM pundits who are still obsessed with Orange Man Bad, local news often reports some good stuff.

Fox News Tonight with Shannon Bream (beautiful in and out) closes her show with a segment called, "Heroes of the Day". Very uplifting. You Fox haters should at least watch or DVR Shannon. Her values are exceptional. She even espouses same from time to time.

This child did everything right. All that she could do in that sudden circumstance.
However, if that was my daughter or granddaughter, the last thing I’d want her to do would be to identify herself by name and give a detailed interview to the press.
The less publicly said about this the better.

I would think it would be more prudent, more beneficial to the girl and that family not to attract so much attention for this. There are a lot of creepy folks out there who may see things differently. “Aren’t you the little girl who was kidnapped? What did he do to you? She’s going to have to relive that moment each time somebody brings it up again.

Every family is different, and let’s face it, many people in the age of Facebook no longer expect or require high levels of privacy or anonymity.
