I have a mentor that I talk to regularly that tells me to be my unique self no matter what others think. I always tell people that I’m a limited edition weirdo. The reason for that… you’ll never find another like me! I’ve always felt why be normal when you aren’t passionate about the things that “normal” folks are.
YouGov asked folks if they identify as being normal or weird and the findings were interesting. Folks were two times more likely to say they were not normals than normal. Which brings up the question… what is normal?
In college, I had to take a sociology class and we talked about social constraints and how norms aren’t really norms. They are mostly fads that trend based on where everyone in the world is at, at any given time. To be honest… I didn’t pay a lot of attention in this class. So if my information isn’t correct, you know why! LOL
Be your unique self and let your personality shine friend! You are amazing just the way you are!
It all depends by what yardstick you are trying to decide whats normal and whats weird.
Who gets to define the measure, gets to define normal and weird.
That’s not a weirdo. That’s a sicko.
That’s not a weirdo. That’s a circus sideshow freak.
Abby Normal?
Circus freaks have to make a living too. Why not with the Biden sideshow with the court jester himself leading the poop trail?
The best weirdos think they’re normal. I get really tired of all the self-conscious, “Look at me, I’m so weird!” types.
“You are not special. You’re not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You’re the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We’re all part of the same compost heap.”
― Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the best weirdos don’t think at all about whether they’re normal or weird.
Certainly true where I work - a bunch of weirdos. In fact, I’m the only normal person there.
Example from my sociology class - about 90% of the population heterosexual. The clear majority makes it “normal”.
Something different, like homosexuality, deviates from that “norm” and hence is “deviant” behavior.
Deviance, in general, is not necessarily with negative connotation.
Commenting as a lifelong, relatively harmless weirdo, I do not welcome these new wannabe weirdoes. Dyeing your hatr green, wearing temporary tattoes, or just occasionally behaving or dressing oddly just won’t cut it. It’s a long-term committment.
As a bystander, I agree with this poll, but normal and weird seem to be subjective. I used to be able to put a Bonzo Dog Band playing “We are the Normals”, for emphasis.
I think, in a lot of ways, this has always been true.
Palahniuk was a true weirdo.
I prefer
“You are pukes!
You are the lowest form of life on earth!
You’re not even human ****ing beings!
You’re nothing but unorganized grabasstic pieces of amphibian ****!”
Make snowflakes cry and cower.
“weirdo” or “snowflake” or “attention whore”? Aren’t those all pretty much the same thing these days?
