Interesting that Baric recently signed an open letter published in Science urging a full investigation into the lab leak hypothesis for the 'Rona. Following this closely.

Too many lies for far too long from too many.

Everyone is just playing CYA.

No one is credible imo.

Someone is playing CYA. Notice how he doesn’t deny the science, that Wuhan Flu can only occur by design and not organically.

The thing is - by definition - they WERE investigating gain of function because that’s what you need to know so you know how to STOP transmission!

They weren’t trying to enable gain of function on viruses (which is what he says here) but they were trying to figure out HOW it happens.

Fauci and he wanted to “save the world” and their hubris has killed millions either accidentally or from an intentional release as a bioweapon.

Suspected SARS Virus And Flu Samples Found In Chinese Scientists’ Luggage Arriving In The U.S.: REPORT
GATEWAY PUNDIT ^ | 3/30/2020 | Eric A. Blair
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/03/suspected-sars-virus-and-flu-samples-found-in-chinese-scientists-luggage-arriving-in-the-u-s-report/

In November 2018, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at Detroit Metro Airport stopped a Chinese biologist who was carrying three vials labeled “Antibodies” in his luggage. The biologist said a colleague in China “had asked him to deliver the vials to a researcher at a U.S. institute. After examining the vials, however, customs agents came to an alarming conclusion,” Yahoo reported.

“Inspection of the writing on the vials and the stated recipient led inspection personnel to believe the materials contained within the vials may be viable Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) materials,” the report said.

The report, written by the Chemical and Biological Intelligence Unit of the FBI’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate (WMDD), does not give the name of the Chinese scientist carrying the suspected SARS and MERS samples, or the intended recipient in the U.S. But the FBI concluded that the incident, and two other cases cited in the report, were part of an alarming pattern.

Wow. Lots of very carefully constructed semantics.

Not sure what this cautious screed is getting at, but Ralph Baric’s team at UNC used a synthetic lung tissue, modeled on human lung tissue, as a medium to select for mutations of a SARS virus. They sought to find variants that would better thrive among humans, not necessarily for foul reasons. If those experiments succeeded, like much of Baric’s work, they are probably the precursor of today’s pandemic. That work, too unsafe by NIH standards, was later continued at Wuhan, and likely leads to where we are today with “Covid-19”.

“and were deemed not to be gain of function.”

Deeming is a powerful exculpatory tool, it seems. The statements are very very carefully worded, giving me a “meaning of is” feeling.

“The Baric laboratory has never investigated strategies to create super viruses,”

.... “we prefer to call them ‘differently-abled viruses’ instead!”

The Baric laboratory has never investigated strategies to create super viruses...

By Baric's standards, Covid-19 is only a mediocre, amateurish virus.

“Studies focused on understanding the cross-species transmission potential of bat coronaviruses like SHC014 have been reviewed by the NIH and by the UNC Institutional Biosafety Committee for potential of gain-of-function research and were deemed not to be gain of function.”

Whaaa? So they were studying the “potential” of gain of function research but deemed they weren't actually doing gain of function research? Uhmmmm.....is that like a guy at a strip club declaring he wasn't actually there for the titties?
