I am glad they were cleared in this, and glad that they will benefit financially, after serving so long in prison.
I just wish that the people responsible for this type of injustice (corrupt LEO, attorneys, politicians??) would bear some consequences. Instead, it always falls to the taxpayers.
Still can’t get back thirty-one years of one’s life - they should enjoy the $750,000 each after their lawyers get paid.

Stories like this just break my heart. Those poor men, such a good chunk of their lives GONE and never to be had again. The “justice” system is so rigged to get convictions. I’m very pro law & order, but this is just SO wrong.
I’d want to hear the other side of the story before believing the media on this (or on anything).
At least no government employee’s lost any sleep or were taken from away their families. There should be Severe penalties when malfeasance, perjury or Fraud are involved in cases like this.
I'm guessing that they still have low IQ's.
Sad story though and those responsible for this travesty should be charged.
“who had low IQs when questioned by police.”
What were their IQs after questioning?
L
Justice is rarely a priority for a prosecutor. It’s about “winning” and political ladder climbing. Adversarial legal systems are not always honest. Defense can be just as bad, trying to get off clearly guilty people. As a result, innocent people are convicted and guilty are acquitted.
“McCollum was 19 and Brown was 15. McCollum was sentenced to death, becoming the longest-serving inmate on North Carolina’s death row. Brown was sentenced to life in prison.”
Compare that to the two ferals who killed the Uber eats driver after they car jacked him.........

Well deserved. I hope they can get somebody trustworthy to manage their money.
and the taxpayers in North Carolina paid.

Once you accept that our justice system is very corrupt things like this make perfect sense
The state should pay.
A million dollars per year is not enough compensation for being in prison.
No amount of money will get them those three decades back - still, good to see that they’ll at least get some compensation to live out the rest of their lives comfortably.
And it increases the chances that the wrongly convicted (in an earlier time perhaps) have their convictions reversed.
McCollum and Brown are half-brothers, who had low IQs when questioned by police.
Speaking of low IQs, I expect to see the 'EXECUTE THEM IMMEDIATELY' crowd here soon.
Or, maybe not.
Did they get the $75 mil from the useless LEOs and prosecutors who all railroaded them?
No, wait. They got it from us tax payers.
WHAT??? Am I reading this right? They were awarded $75 million but each of them is only going to go home with $750,000 of it? That's no where close to being as bad as the original crime, but it's pretty bad! Who gets the rest of it? The lawyers?... Can't be.
