Good video from Paul Harrell. He tests how difficult it would be to shoot a knife out of someone's hand.
Given what happened in Columbus.
Sad that a video like this has to be made.
With a pistol very unlikely. With a shotgun much easier but the hand would also be gone.
I agree. I remember an incident in NYC where a cop shot and killed a perp who was aiming a handgun at him.
The reporterette interviewing the cop asked him why he didn't just shoot the gun out of his hand instead of aiming at his chest....
In an endeavor such as this control is critically important!
But Dad did not teach her self control. Where was Dad?
Well, Roy Rogers used to do that all the time.
I like Paul Harrell's videos. He's very careful with his tests and provides good data.
“The reporterette interviewing the cop asked him why he didn’t just shoot the gun out of his hand”
Old Hollywood cowboy movies are reality to these people.
Where they still holding the knife after dropping?
The problem is that the hand is not always broadly exposed that way. It’s twisthing and turning, and doing a LOT more erratic movement than in the video. But it still makes the point. I watched it through. What we saw there was actual scientific method in action.
BTW, we have carpenter bees where I live. It’s very difficult to smack them down with a tennis racket because they move erratically. You’d think it would be easy, but it’s not. Same principle. I prefer to wait until they just hover, though I’ve gotten good at anticipating their moves sometimes.

“I can see Bambi had a strong influence on you as a child.”
Yep. Marshal Dillon did it all the time...
ah...fond memories of James Coburn in The Magnificent Seven
He was there - kicking the girl she pushed to the ground.
So did The Lone Ranger starring Clayton Moore.
What happened in Columbus was a textbook justification of the use of deadly force by police. The officer used deadly force because the life and safety of another person was at risk if he hadn’t.
Anyone know how to post images anymore? The old ways of img src= etc don’t seem to work.
The fact someone has made or feels this video needs made shows just how moronic some people are.
Clearly have never fired a handgun in their life if they think this is possible in a real life situation.
I agree - Paul Harrell is one of the more thoughtful, reasoned firearms YouTubers out there. I enjoy watching his videos.
