The Emergency Broadband Benefit, administered through the Federal Communications Commission, gives eligible households a $50-a-month subsidy that can be used to pay for broadband service, as well as a one-time $100 payment toward a device to connect to the internet.

Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
The Emergency Broadband Benefit is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

One month and a hook up fee. Lol. Liberals are ridiculous. They actually hate the poor. What do the poor do in month two? I bet a two year contract is also required.
It’s a $50 per month subsidy...
It’s pay-off to ISP’s to do what the left wants.
I’m opposed to the subsidy—I was merely pointing out to the other poster that it’s a recurring, not one-time, payment.
During Obamanation, he signed a bill that required the ISP to provide the gov with the names and addresses for all their users.
I don’t know if that has been successful or not so I’m guessing this is a bribe to register your internet access with the gov - then they can target critics more effectively.
You are right. It says:
The Emergency Broadband Benefit is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.
One per household. It is paid every month. $50 per month.
Obama phones by another name!
I need an Emergency Lambo Benefit Program.
"Can"is the operative word. The real meaning is vote buying.
WILD GUESS: I'm not eligible.
ADDITIONAL WILD GUESS: No one I know is eligible.

I bet many of these poor people have 70 inch tv’s in their living rooms....and we get to pay so they can watch netflix.
Look at the next to last eligibility criteria, and tell me the program is not intentionally expansive beyond the “poor”:
Who Is Eligible for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program? A household is eligible if a member of the household meets one of the criteria below:
1. Has an income that is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, or Lifeline;
2. Approved to receive benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision in the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year;
3. Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;
4. Experienced a substantial loss of income due to job loss or furlough since February 29, 2020 and the household had a total income in 2020 at or below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers; or
5. Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider’s existing low-income or COVID-19 program.
That 4th point is to bring the middle class into this new sector of the government plantation society.
And further understand the standard ploy the Dims use to make many sectors of the government plantation society permanent - call something temporary and then when the time comes they call the Conservatives horrible people “trying to remove a government benefit” when we want to end the “temporary” period.
Can someone explain to me what is the end game of Elon Musk putting dozens and dozens of broadband satellites in orbit? Is he looking to take over the market? Won’t they need dish receivers mounted on housing?
Bernie won. Everything is now free.
Exactly.
Will internet carriers like AT&T Spectrum ding the customer for it?.

An Internet in every home.
