If the people can speak, history tells us that they’re not going to settle for another leftist revolution.
Aging hippies have a penchant for recalling the 1960s as some amazing, idyllic moment in time. As Jonah Goldberg writes in Liberal Fascism, it’s “bizarre how many people remember the 1960s as a time of ‘unity’ and ‘hope’ when it was, in reality, a time of rampant domestic terrorism, campus tumult, assassinations, and riots.”
Goldberg hits the nail squarely on the head when appraising why aging hippies feel that way. Their “liberal nostalgia” for the 1960s is more about a longing “for victory” than an interest in “unity.” Leftists love the 1960s for the same reason that they love the 1930s, a decade also marred by “political unrest, intense labor violence, and the fear that one totalitarianism or another lay just around the corner.”
Both decades were the times when leftists believed that “we were all in it together,” writes Goldberg. The kind of “unity” that took the shape of “staid conformity” in the 1950s was undesirable for them. “In the 1930s and 1960s, the left’s popular-front approach yielded real power.”
Voters, however, swiftly repudiated that era of massively growing government power and carefully fomented social unrest under LBJ’s Great Society schemes. In 1968, America elected Richard Nixon on his promise to find “an honorable end to the war in Vietnam.” He promised to repeal government regulations, reminding Americans that “progress is achieved not by government doing more for people, but through people doing more for themselves.” He assured Americans that he would “restore respect for America around the world.”
Drawing historical parallels is never perfectly clean but does any of that sound familiar? Did Barack Obama not massively grow government for eight years while fomenting social unrest and racial violence

I think history in other countries show that things may have to get really bad before people risk their lives to fight the corrupt system.
Well, things have gotten so bad that instead of a conservative resurgence, we will need a conservative counter-revolution.
This can go either way, you know. While the time may be ripe for a conservative resurgence, it is also equally ripe for total chaos and civil war, plunging the country into a severe dystopia. The summer soldiers and the sunshine patriots will melt back into the landscape, rather than to stay for the long march, making the remaining minority the ones to shoulder full responsibility for simultaneously re-educating the rest and rebuilding the structure of what was once the “United States of America”.
Not an impossible task, but what has been made much more difficult.
<>Nixon was reelected in 1972, in a landslide victory.<>
As was our glorious President Trump. The Left took out both great presidents. But at least they didn’t ban Nixon from public discourse.
***History Suggests that America is Ripe for a Conservative Resurgence***
How did that work out in the last election? We need to quit fooling ourselves. Unless there is election reform so that cheating is stopped, a conservative resurgence will NEVER happen.
We’re not going to vote our way out of this.
Our current political system sees no role at all for We The People. We pay taxes. That’s our entire function.
Until we rise up. And, is that really going to happen?
In 1968, America elected Richard Nixon on his promise to find an honorable end to the war in Vietnam. Which he did not. He promised to repeal government regulations ... but made so many more.
And Richard Nixon began the “War On Natural Resource Harvesters” in earnest, destroying American lives, their families, their property, their livelihoods, while everyone else looked to foreign policies, the free America of the past was slaughtered. And the media rejoiced! And people cheered. And priests condemned. Hollywood made commercials and sent its famous actors and their pet fake Indians to the hinterlands to aid in the destruction. And the media rejoiced! And the media rejoiced!
Love the Rise of China? Thank Richard Nixon;
Love the EPA and its many regulations? Thank Richard Nixon;
Love OSHA? Thank Richard Nixon;
Love Tribal Casinos, Tribal Special Masters and their Superior Rights? Thank Richard Nixon.
Trends suggest otherwise due to MSM and educational system indoctrination. That has to be reversed to make any meaningful progress long term.
Lost me at “if.”
Much like the 60’s, the revolution nowadays is trying to destroy with no plan for making improvements.
They destroy for destructions’ sake.
Indeed. “If the people can speak....” Why won’t anyone believe our President? when he says he has the greatest voter fraud organization in history, he means there won’t be any more of this “people speaking” BS.
It will necessarily be accompanied by shitlib heads on pikes, necks in nooses and the tried and true Ceausescu Protocol. It's the only way to be sure.
Now that voting has been rendered ineffective other means would have to be employed.
Not sure there is the will to do what is necessary.
The Revolutionary war was lost right up the day they won....................
America’s problems are spiritual, not political.
They can not be solved politically.
We need to repent and turn to God, a la II Chronicles 7:14. The first action is the one not likely to happen - to humble ourselves - apart from divine move of God.........
A conservative revival will only occur in concert witn a revival of Christianity. That wll only come about through a tangible threat to our existence.
Yup, human nature and history seem to indicate that upheavals don’t occur if people are generally fat, entertained and comfortable. And we are the most of all of these conditions in all of human history.
Freegards
First, we need honest elections and there is a remedy.
1946 Tennessee election parallels 2020 – Tennessee Lookout. In 1946, WW2 GI’s took action over a corrupt election and won.

“I think history in other countries show that things may have to get really bad before people risk their lives to fight the corrupt system.”
Absolutely! And we’re a long ways from that. I’m always amazed at how much crap most of us will put up with before we’re motivated to act. And by the time that happens it will be too late because the powers that be have things under such tight control that they can squash any nascent rebellion before it gets out of hand.
Look at Venezuela or Cuba or North Korea or Iran.
I’m trying to think of a truly tyrannical regime that was overthrown strictly by internal forces. I really can’t come up with any. Even the French Revolution came about because the king got too soft hearted. A true tyrant would have never let that get out of hand.
As for the American revolution, that was more a war of independence than one againt a native tyrant.
