srael’s aggressive vaccination policy recorded another win on Saturday when just 13 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the country – the lowest rate in 14 months, according to data released by the Health Ministry this week.
On Saturday, 9,238 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country, according to the ministry, and just 0.1 percent of these returned positive.
They also come as the number of serious cases dropped to 100, including 60 people on ventilators, out of the 1,310 active cases in the country.
Also on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces announced that it was Covid-free for the first time since the outbreak began. It recorded zero active cases among its ranks.
In March, the military announced that it had reached herd immunity from the disease, with more than 80 percent of all service people either vaccinated or recovered from the virus.

Israel began its vaccination program with the two-shot Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in late December, and has managed to inoculate more than 60 percent of its total population, and 80 percent of the eligible population over the age of 16, to reach more than 5.4 million people.
It is the highest per capita vaccination rate in the world.
In February, a study of 1.2 million members of Israel’s largest health-maintenance organization, Clalit Health Services, showed the Pfizer vaccine is 94 percent effective in preventing symptomatic Covid-19 and 92% effective in preventing serious disease in vaccinated people who do get infected.
In April, experts suggested that the country had reached herd immunity.

I can’t either or I’d get the ZOT.
I’m so sorry. Thanks for what you do.
Antibody cocktails don’t touch viruses; they may help keep in check opportunistic bacteria & fungi which pile-on a weakened body.
And after such a hard day.
The frustrating part is that many FReepers are in high risk categories. (I’m a millennial, but I know my generation is rare here and most are gen X, boomer, or even older.) Seeing the COVID denial and anti-vaccine nonsense is disturbing because there will be FReepers who will suffer and possibly die due to that misinformation.
>> We have far more to lose by suppressing debate.
Agreed.
I’m more than willing to defer to experience and skill, but no one here has a monopoly on intellect and reason.
You’re a Millennial with the handle, Stravinsky? You’re a fan of the Romantic era?
+1
Not the ZOT that concerns me... lol
Nonsense
Regeneron (monoclonal antibodies casirivimab and imdevimab) and the other antibody cocktail (bamlanivimab and etesevimab) are useful in treating COVID. Probably the best treatments available.
Maybe you confused antibody with antibiotics.
I *was* up till 2:00 AM last night and up at 7:00 AM.
In all honesty, there are benefits to having a control group for an experimental, unconventional therapy.
So why badger them?
In that connection,
seems like a policy guaranteed to ramp up fatalities.
Rational debate grounded in reality is not the problem. I have family members I have recommended wait on the vaccines for various reasons. The problem is the hysterical over the top factually inaccurate fearmongering going on that is driving people away from the vaccine without hearing the other side
The problem is you trolls and clowns continually repeating the same see-through strawmen.
Here’s a couple of things the Branch Covidians seem anxious to avoid.

Good post. I have good friends in Ohio who refused vaccinations last month (they are in their 50s) and so did their parents.
Fast forward to late April/May: of the 4, they all got covid. One recovered fine, one was in the hospital for 5 days, one was in the hospital a week, and one died the day before yesterday.
And they all could have had the vaccine in early April.
It’s understandable given how extremely biased and childish the media coverage is — treating these shots like no different than candy at a candy store, rather than a serious medical decision and undertaking.
Also awful in light of how little is discussed regarding other treatments and ways to tackle the pandemic. Vaccines should be one approach of many. Not the ONLY.
You're not serious.
The vax push is so in your face and pervasive throughout all of our culture that its disgusting.
Its an all out propaganda campaign to 'take the jab', while at the same time our side is being censored.
What are you even talking about, Mom MD? Pay attention.
Terrible.
There are also stories of people who’ve been vaccinated that fell within the 5% of people who still get infected. “Breakthrough” infections. And what of them? Why isn’t more being done to fund, publicize, and promote additional treatments, and discoveries/research into ways to tackle the disease? Why is vaccine supposed to the be only option?
I know—there is so much we don’t know—I do think those of us over 50 should opt for the vaccine as it seems the risk-benefit analysis is clear that the vaccine is less risky. I chose the J&J myself as it’s a more traditional vaccine. Our risks from covid are just so much higher than for those under 50.
My two boys now in their 20s opted to get it too. But now I have an 18 year old who will be REQUIRED to get it in order to attend a CA university this fall, and a 16 year old girl—I will hold off on vaccinating her unless she needs it to travel or go to school. I worry about the fertility issues for my kids.
