The term was created in 2013 in a Bitcoin chat forum
by an investor who was watching Bitcoin’s price
fall sharply but decided not to sell.
He wrote a post titled, “I am HODLing,”
meaning to write “HOLDing.”
(the term was created by a dumb ass)
Still do not know what it is or have any need to know.
4% — 55 years and up. Well I am young at heart.
What percent buy lottery tickets?
What percent purchased tulip bulbs?
I’ve got a little bit. I sold most of mine when Bitcoin hit 20 grand. I wish i held on to it, but it is what it is. I was pleasantly surprised to see I have a couple hundred bucks in Etherium after not checking that account for years. I think I bought 30 bucks worth.
coulda woulda shoulda. Oh well.
But seeing the massive speculation driven by over leveraged “Tether” coin it will crash bigly I think. It will still exist but mostly like gold does now. It will just be there and not do much of anything while other cryptos are used to trade across borders away from the prying eyes of government.
you invested 30 and got hundreds in return? That’s a damn good ROI.
PT Barnum said “There is a sucker born every minute.”
The whole crypto currency thing smells strongly of “greater fool” motivation.
But same thing is true for house prices, lumber prices, etc.
I find it difficult to believe that 17% of Americans own crypto.
Sorry it just does not pass my statistical smell test.
although I just found this:
a New Survey Reveals 10.8% of The American Population Owns Gold, While 11.6% Owns Silver.
Although I bet if you asked do you own more than 16 oz of silver or 1 oz of gold the answers would be a lot different
So much for Dogecoin and the hopes of Elon Musk appearing on SNL to cause the price to rocket to $1.00. Within the time he was on the show it crashed to .40 from .74 during the day.
If YOU would like to be on a CRYPTO PING LIST, please pm me.
The Crypto Ping List covers the following:
Bitcoin
Ethereum
Other coins built on the Ethereum blockchain mining
etc.
Thanks! For it - or ag'in it, it'll be a wild ride. PING!
The IRS will be up their butt very soon.
On every crypto thread there’s always that one person who brings up tulips. And that’s OK. If people are so ignorant regarding 21st century financial matters, then let them hide their dollar bills under the mattress and/or bury them in mason jars in the yard.
Same here. 2+ years ago I put a couple grand into TRX at 0.07, and last week it hit 0.16 (0.12 today). I’m not selling though ... I’m riding this rocket ship to the M-O-O-N !!! /s
You and me both! HAHA!
Mostly held by young kids who are not saving for retirement in other ways. They gamble, they play options on Robinhood, they are not serious investors. We will be a socialist nation in 30 years because these kids will have nothing but their parent’s inheritance.

****
Same here! I can round up 17 people in my circle and can confidently say they’ve never heard of it. If I say “crypto”. 2 of them will say “like Bigfoot or Dogman”?
I recently (less than 2 months ago) put $200 in a couple different coints in a Robin Hood account. That account consistently has btw $500-600 in it now.
