Why not defund the police?
My fetid mind | May 9th, 2021 | Mariner

Posted on 05/09/2021 10:49:46 AM PDT by Mariner

Ask yourself, when was the last time a police force acted in accordance with your interests and expectations?

Did they protect your property or business from rioters and arson?

Are they allowing lawlessness to run rampant in one segment of society, while they stridently enforce laws that prevent you from protecting your interests?

What do YOU need them for? Anything?

When police forces refuse to enforce criminal property laws the middle class has no use for them. When they prevent you from protecting you and yours, they have become your adversary.

So, why not defund and disband?

A lot of the problem is the upper echelons of management. Not the actual police force.. The beat policeman is only doing what he is told by management..

Are they the standing army the Founders warned us about?

“Law enforcement” all across the country could be cut in half by attrition if millions more people were able to carry.

I work security, and it would be great to be able to carry.

The problem is elected judges and prosecutors are not putting away offenders.

"Judges" are tyrants in black robes.

“The beat policeman is only doing what he is told by management..”

That’s part of the problem.

“When there are people like you who want to defund the police and return to anarchy and vigilantism?”

Vigilance committees would more effectively support my interests.

Vigilance committees do not create anarchy. Only cops and politicians say that.

We had high hopes for a previous police chief because he came from a place that shut Antifa down flat. Problem is that he was a political person who continually sniffed the winds to find the direction of an advantageous butt to kiss. We now have another guy who is young and probably a bit out of his depth at the moment because we appear to have been overrun in a short period of time by drug/gang violence by very experienced criminals that have landed in our berg to become our problem.

Like every other institution the police are going to waging an ongoing war with some form of corruption. Its the human condition, and doesn’t fit well at all with neat and elegant theories.

I wouldn’t give you two cents for the butt kisser in my example, but his replacement makes me feel less bad about my taxes. He did have a really good arrest the other day and my neighborhood is safer because of it. Its not a race, its whack-a-mole, and there are always going to be more moles.

“Vigilance committees”

You would make a great spokesman for Antifa. Question: Is George Soros paying you to come here and spout BLM rhetoric?

“Only if when the BLM anus sniffers turn up, we can off them at our leisure.”

Who would be stopping you?

A stupid person would believe that.

I’m not going to defend myself against you verbally.

Just know that your point of view is becoming extinct.

And I would fire indiscriminately at rioters and arsonists.

"Vigilance committees would more effectively support my interests."

We had, "Vigilance committees" in communist Cuba. Lots of communist countries do too. Some places have, "Commission(s) for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice". Give it time, coming soon to America.

You live in Kalifornia. You should be supporting a return to true policing, "broken windows" bust-ass punch-down policing. Hammer locks and crazy van rides downtown.

If you had any sense at all, you'd move to plenty of places where Heartland police forces fire when fired upon. Ask St. Bre lofl!

That’s part of the problem.

If the patrolman does what he is suppose to do he gets fired!

So, why not defund and disband?

The founding fathers were opposed to both statism and anarchic freedom

Why Not:

Play with matches

Stick your finger in a light bulb socket

Smoke next to an open can of gasoline

Use a lit match to find a gas natural gas leak

Play with a rabid skunk

Give a rattlesnake free run of the house to keep the mouse population down

Play Russian roulette

Eat wild mushrooms you are not capable of identifying

Drink methanol

Drive blindfolded

Try to make friends with a mother grizzly bear and her cubs

Play with high explosives with no training

Check the unlabeled can's contents by tasting a small amount

Etcetera

Etcetera

Etcetera

We have something like that in the form of some sort of Latin American neighborhood watch thing. Problem for us is these guys are all about some sort of personality thing, and there is illegal dumping and vandalism perpetrated by the main guy. Its weird and has a witch hunty vibe. It also seems ineffective beyond a youth outreach that results in destruction of property. Honestly it was better in Crips(?) territory provided that you didn’t make the mistake of wearing the wrong color or something. Its hard to keep up with the rules when you have a bunch if self righteous guys in little clumps of “this is how we do things on this block.” People are going to micromanage.

No need to do that. The federal police force will be more than glad to come down and solve your self inflicted problems.

Because as you have been told on this thread defunding the police will only lead to a federalized National Police Force.

And since in your words you are not (cannot) going to defend yourself against me I will sign off and leave you to seriously consider how foolish your thoughts are on this thread. Seriously think about how foolish you are.

A police department rots from the head down. When I first moved to the town I now live in, the police chief was definitely pro-citizen. He would periodically, on his own time, have a Concealed Carry class that was free for any resident. In his own words, "You are our backup, and in most instances are even the first line of defense."

His attitude was largely shared by the officers under him, and realized that policing was a partnership between themselves and citizens. We had one particular misfit, who was, quite frankly, a serious asshole. Eventually though, he got with the program.

One of the reasons I've seriously considered moving of late, is because the chief retired, and was replaced by someone who sees the citizens as a revenue source. He has lost many really good guys who moved on to departments more in line with how they were initially trained.

I do think the term should be “De-militarize” the police.

try it. honestly, go with god. you’ll find out what they do for you.

this is the dumbest gaddam thing I’ve ever read on FR. shortsighted, poorly phrased, spectacularly ill-considered, wrong headed, shallow, self absorbed, and just plain stupid.
