Why not defund the police?
My fetid mind | May 9th, 2021 | Mariner

Posted on 05/09/2021 10:49:46 AM PDT by Mariner

Ask yourself, when was the last time a police force acted in accordance with your interests and expectations?

Did they protect your property or business from rioters and arson?

Are they allowing lawlessness to run rampant in one segment of society, while they stridently enforce laws that prevent you from protecting your interests?

What do YOU need them for? Anything?

When police forces refuse to enforce criminal property laws the middle class has no use for them. When they prevent you from protecting you and yours, they have become your adversary.

So, why not defund and disband?

Only if when the BLM anus sniffers turn up, we can off them at our leisure.

If the democrats had a national police force, they would no longer need antifa and blm. They would have their own Gestapo and Stazi to do their bidding.

You’re right.

They are effectively aiding the anarchists and preventing the citizens from defending themselves.

The FBI is already their Gestapo.

Back when I was a kid, our local (small town) police officers were friendly and polite. And they showed up when you needed them.

I still live in that small town. Most of our local police officers are now needlessly rude and stand-offish. But they still show up when you need them! So yes, I will happily pay taxes to support them.

If, however, you live in a big city I suppose your perspective might be different.

Be nice to see all the police in these liberal shxthole cities pack their bags and walk out and leave a simple message.. Call if you need anything when we’re fully funded.

They could also call in sick for any politician security details.

The problem is elected judges and prosecutors are not putting away offenders.

Because it’s less expensive to tax for a small force of armed police than arm all the citizens?

This would be a no-brainer for anyone with an IQ higher than an imbecile.

It part of a much larger game you don’t mention. Federal Police - FBI, DEA, IRS, etc. etc. will ever be criticized, doxxed, defunded or protested against.

Why is that? Who fills the vacuum when local police are neutered?

“But they still show up when you need them! “

Was there ever a BLM/Antifa march in your town?

Be vigilant.

I believe the founders intended for the sheriff to be our chief lawman.

I also believe that a national police force would be the FBI and Homeland Security on steroids.

The reason making the sheriff the #1 lawman again would be much better than our present system is that the sheriff is directly responsible to the voting public and can be replaced at their will on election day.

So the sheriff will pay attention when you have a complaint.

Contrast to your city chief of police. You can’t get near him. Complaints go to the mayor who takes them to the city council who talk about it for hours and then decide what to tell the chief.

Try complaining to the FBI. The FBI does not even recognize President Trump. The FBI has several layers of bureaucrats between it and the public and in no way are responsible to the voter.

I believe that disbanding the police and transferring the funds to the local sheriff so he can hire the men and purchase the needed equipment would improve the public’s relations with law enforcement.

It would also result in uniform enforcement throughout a county whereas now you can have a dozen interpretations of the law in the same county.

“The problem is elected judges and prosecutors are not putting away offenders.”

It’s far worse than that.

They will stand by and watch somebody burn out your business or home. They won’t even attempt to prevent it.

Disband the courts.

Make all judges and lawyers shine shoes for a living.

Most people who think we “need” police are those who think the police are nothing more than taxpayer-funded security guards. That’s simply not what they are supposed to be doing, and if you think that IS what they should be doing then you ain’t a real American.

The police forces are standing down in the face of the Antifa/BLM thugs because they have ORDERS from the civil authorities to stand down. Governors and mayors of these cities and states that have been hit by the riots have SPECIFICALLY saddled their police forces with excessive demands to limit the use of various policing strategies and tactics in carrying out the duties of maintaining civil tranquility and the rule of law. Not only that, once perpetrators have been arrested, the prosecuting attorneys have been almost immediately turning loose those very same criminals on specious grounds and NO BAIL, often before the arresting paperwork is completed.

Futility in the face of this total lack of support from the civil authorities has greatly discouraged the policeman on the beat from carrying out his duties of serving and protecting the community. Couple this with stripping away funds to do even the most elementary tasks related to maintaining order and calm, and it is small wonder that the otherwise dedicated police are simply walking away in ever-increasing numbers.

< Was there ever a BLM/Antifa march in your town? <

Nope. But given that our mayor is a tough old retired cop, I think our police force would show up and do the right thing.

As a side note, shortly after this whole BLM/Antifa thing started a few of the local stores put “Black Lives Matter” signs in their windows. I found that to be odd, and depressing.

Kinda like putting a “No Jews Here” sign up in Germany back in the 1930s.

> Be vigilant. <

You betcha. There really is no totally safe place anymore.

My thoughts exactly.

Somehow this county worked when there were no police departments and everyone was well armed.
