Mosquitoes suck.
This is currently being done to control a number pests, including the blowfly. It isn’t really that controversial.
Are they manually checking every one of them? Mutations and other weird stuff happen in nature. No reason it couldn't happen here. If something did happen and we end up with a new type of mosquito that's worse then the one they were trying to get rid of, then what? More GMO mosquitos to fight the first ones?
Insanity. The moment they are released, natural selection takes over and soon overrides any human-engineered genetic modification. Sometimes I wonder if the human race deserves to be called “homo sapiens.” A better name would be “homo stultus.”
Now, when you get stung by a mosquito, your arm falls off!
Always wear pants. Nudist males beware of the modified mosquitoes.

They could have gone with the bacteria infected sterile male mosquitoes like they did a couple of years ago near FR HQ (Fresno)...95% effective they say:
“What could go wrong???”

They bred millions of another species of mosquito whose larva would attack and eat the bad mosquitoes larva.............

Could we release genetically-modified Democrats, so that the regular ones won’t breed? After all, they are far more dangerous than mosquitos.
