Where on Earth are you getting this nonsense? The "spikes" refer to the fact that they're a protrusion from the body of the virus; not that they're a spike that tears holes in things. That's not how things work at that scale. Here's an actual view of the "spike":

The S protein has binding sites that bind to specific cell receptors (ACE2) to enable cell entry. Has nothing to do with ripping holes in things. The end of it is actually more rounded overall, but that's just a generalized shape caused by the specifics of protein folding.
