I have no animosity for any Freeper on the Q thread with the exception of anti-Q trolls of course. Eventually the mask hate just gets to me and I boil over briefly. At this point I don’t trust any Internet experts on either side. I can only trust my personal experiences and local doctors opinions.
I really started getting worked up about telling others that masks don’t work, when I have been told that they do help, after my husband decided he didn’t need to wear his because the “boys” on the HAM radio told him they heard they didn’t work. I told him to ask his doctor. His doctor told him the same thing mine did and told him not to even think about being in a crowd without one. He’s 82 with diabetes and high blood pressure.
Not everybody that reads the anti-mask posts are young, fit, and healthy. Some are elderly people with medical issues that no longer think for themselves the way they used to and tend to believe everything they read or hear. These are the people that I am most protective of because I have personally seen them do it. ANY protection, as long as they know they still need to be careful, is worth doing. I get just as riled over telling people to get the shot because it will protect them. Maybe it will; maybe it won’t. I’m not taking it but didn’t tell him to get it or not get it since nobody really knows for sure. He chose not to get it either.
And then there’s the data that suggests that wearing a mask can be detrimental to one’s health.
It would be nice if there was a well - defined beyond dispute scientific study for all of the decisions.
For sure we both agree that people need to be free to research and make a decision rather than be dictated or coerced.
I’d like to end this discussion now, I think we’ve both had our say.

Agreed. We all must rely on critical thinking and personal observation and experience. I figured out the media was lying in 1969 so I do not believe anything I cannot verify personally or with my own connections around the world. (And every year I lose a few of those. Not many left now.)
I do not know what is actually happening out there but I know the media is lying. I only know for sure what is happening on this island: Since March 2020 there have been less than a hundred people who tested positive, mostly arriving visitors or residents returning from the lower forty eight. Half a dozen people reported mild to moderate symptoms early in the panic. No one has been hospitalized or evacuated for treatment. No one has died of COVID 19 on the island. About half of the 3000 residents have now been vaccinated.
I am not a kid. I do not see the need for me personally to wear a mask or take the shot under these circumstances.
