"After hiking to the viewing area for the volcano and photographing for more than an hour, I packed my tripod but then noticed a tornado forming over the lava flow, luckily I caught it on video".
Rb: What Sigfús Steindórsson is trying to say here is a whirlwind formed over the lava flow. Very cool at higher resolution as embers are spraying everywhere.

Interesting how the fiery whirlwind sustains itself by striping off the solidifying layer that was covering the liquid lava. That exposed heat then feeds the whirlwind keeping the process going until it wonders off the lava stream.

There is a video out there of a guy cooking hot dogs on top of the lava flow.

All of the other vents have shut down and the main vent is a Lava Geyser now. Goes off every 5 minutes or so.
