An attorney for Elmhurst Hospital said at a court hearing Tuesday that a patient whose daughter sued to procure a controversial treatment for COVID-19 has begun to receive the medication.
The lawyer, Joseph Monahan, said an outside doctor was granted credentials to work at the hospital so he could administer ivermectin to Nurije Fype, a 68-year-old who has been in intensive care for nearly a month and is on a ventilator. She received her first dose Monday night, according to Ralph Lorigo, one of her attorneys.
Monahan said the hospital’s own doctors did not want to administer the medication, which is normally used to treat patients suffering from diseases caused by parasitic worms. The Food and Drug Administration has cautioned against its use in COVID-19 cases, saying its safety and efficacy for that application has not been established.
But some researchers and physicians say they have seen good results from the drug, and when Fype’s daughter Desareta read a news story about an upstate New York woman who recovered from COVID-19 after receiving ivermectin, she went to court to secure its use for her mother.
DuPage County Judge James Orel ordered Elmhurst Hospital not to stand in the way of Fype receiving the medication. When Fype’s own doctor was unable to administer it, Lorigo said, the legal team found another physician who had to travel “1½, 2 hours each way” but was willing to do it.
Lorigo asked the judge to order Elmhurst Hospital to pay that doctor’s fees, along with Fype’s legal expenses and a $25,000 fine, and to allow a nurse to administer the drug instead of the doctor. Orel declined, saying the hospital had met the conditions of his order.
“The medication is being given,” he said.

In the Chicago case, the Elmhurst attorney, Joseph Monahan, had argued that ivermectin was “not ethical to use…an outlier…not standard of care.” He boasted that the hospital saved 92 percent of its COVID patients.
Judge Orel’s response was pointed. “There’s still 8 percent” who died, he said. “If there’s a medicine out there that can assist a patient … and nothing else is working and she’s regressing to the point of near death, then, yes, I balance the equities.” Meaning he weighed the evidence and sided with what many doctors call the “right to try.”

A similar Long Island case involved patient Deborah Bucko, 52, who was hospitalized Feb. 28. Like Fype, her family’s struggle to get ivervectin was not easy or quick, involving pleas to hospital doctors and administrators, and, finally, two court hearings. These delays undoubtedly threaten deterioration of ICU patients tethered to ventilators, like Bucko and Fype.
The court papers and testimony in these cases, and my conversations with Lorigo, Dr. Pierre Kory, the leading physician on ivermectin, and family members of Fype and Bucko reveal maddening ignorance and denial of the positive effects of ivermectin in 53 trials, including 27 randomized controlled trials.
Scott Mantel, Deborah Bucko’s husband, studied the research when the family became ill in February. His wife was prescribed an antibiotic and inhaler but deteriorated and was admitted to the hospital. Then in day six of COVID and worried he would follow, Mantel tracked down Dr. Zev Zelenko, an early treatment pioneer. He suggested ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, zinc and a steroid pill.
Within hours, Mantel said, “I was 100 percent better. It was almost like completely eradicated. I’d never been treated with medicine that worked that fast in my life.”
He was not convinced it was the ivermectin that the made the difference until his daughter, 17, took everything but the ivermectin and took longer to recover.
Mantel’s attempts to share these experiences with hospital physicians fell on deaf ears. Their response: “There’s no real research, no conclusive studies, not peer-reviewed — whatever the terminology, they threw it out,” he said.

The US medical profession is beclowning itself over covid therapeutics.
Prayers up, for this woman.....and, for her dear daughter.
Sickening that it even had to come to this.
Hopefully, better late, than never.
Why not just check yourself out of the hospital, send your wife to Farm and Fleet for some stuff your friends’ horses, and treat yourself at home?

And it never will be established if they keep trying to prevent the use of it as a potential treatment.
Vaccines are promoted as the one and only treatment for Covid by Big Tech, MSM and the government.
There are billions of dollars involved in the distribution and promotion of these vaccines.As a result, alternative treatments are not just dismissed, but actively discouraged if not prohibited and the politicization of Covid has destroyed scientific inquiry or even the option to consider alternatives.
My wife chuckles at my preventative use of Ivermectin horse paste.
She told me just today that our neighbors got covid - the kid and the husband. The mom slept in the same bed as her husband and took care of them both. She didn’t get it - probably due to the Ivermectin that her naturopath doctor had prescribed (pill form).
