(President Trump's Operation Warp Speed Update)
(First shots slowing dramatically - less than half a million on this report, which is only about a quarter of the rate of a month ago. Who is running this?)
Total Vaccine Doses Delivered: 312,509,575 (18,463,400 J&J)
Administered: 246,780,203 (8,409,505 J&J)
People Vaccinated, At Least One Dose: 147,517,734
Fully Vaccinated: 105,523,520
(Excerpt) Read more at covid.cdc.gov ...
Doses Delivered: None (weekend effect) (200 J&J)
Total Administered: 1.2 million (Disastrously slow) (36,000 J&J - still quite slow, compared to a pre-pause day)
New People Receiving 1st Dose: 471,000 (Disastrously Weak)
People Fully Vaccinated: 749,000 (Very weak)
Strong inventories on hand (66 million).
% Total Population with at least a First Shot: 44.4% (up 0.1)
Those ≥ 18 Years of Age (Adults): 56.3% (up 0.2)
Those ≥ 65 Years of Age: 82.8% (up 0.1) (69.7% Fully vaccinated - up 0.1)
Cases and New Hospitalizations downward. Cases on a distinct downslope now. Cases down 25% in the last two weeks.
423 New Deaths reported (flat).
First shots have slowed way down - in half again. Less than a half million reported - which is less than a quarter of what strong days were like a month ago. Kind of a collapse seems to be developing.
We don't have President Trump to drive a response this time, so there is an excellent chance that management will be bungled.
Cases and deaths went down this time last year without vaccines, and without reducing CT counts on PCR tests.
deaths appear to be flat lining now. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/#graph-deaths-daily
A few observations:
1. CDC’s stopping J&J at the drop of a feather didn’t instill confidence in the need to vaccinate.
2. The remaining people are probably the ones who are least concerned about the virus and most prone to believe internet tales about vaccines altering DNA, being made with aborted baby parts, and causing whatever bad thing happens after a vaccination.
Not happy that my predictions made a few weeks back are coming to fruition but it’s difficult to maintain they are not.

The anti-Trump-vaccine jihadists will be reveling. Hopefully we’re far enough along toward herd immunity that the impact will be limited.
Weekend numbers. Let’s see how the rest of the week goes before we all Chicken Little this thing.
It is a fact that the J&J vaccine is morally compromisedin that it uses aborted babies cells in the creation of their vaccine.
“2. The remaining people are probably the ones who are least concerned about the virus and most prone to believe internet tales about vaccines altering DNA, being made with aborted baby parts, and causing whatever bad thing happens after a vaccination”
I think the “and” above is not merited.
An “or” is more accurate I think.
Here’s an apparent head-scratcher...

Very low test positivities in Israel, UK, and... Portugal?!
IDK. Less than 30% vaxxed.
As I understand they had a very strict lockdown and border controls, and had a very high peak of deaths and cases (so natural immunity). Seasonality?
They’re opening back up now and I expect to see cases rise rapidly.
Slowing down the vaccination is definitely Bidet fault.
It seems that the people who wanted to be vaccinated have almost all done so, at least getting the first shot by now.
We are now getting down to people who either do not care, or are opposed to it.
At this stage, we need to actively market the vaccine, as safe, life saving medicine, to those who are not really eager to get it.
I am sure that President Trump would do excellent job in this marketing.
Unlike Bidet, who does nothing to promote the vaccine and who still runs around in double mask, basically propagating the myth that vaccines do not work!
My theory is that there are millions of people (my son being one of them) who REALLY only want the J&J vaccine and are waiting for it because 1) it is more traditional and 2) you only need to get it once.
When J&J starts being available again, I think the #s will increase of those getting vaccinated.
I'm thinking it will be the rollout of the Novovax.
“When J&J starts being available again, I think the #s will increase of those getting vaccinated.”
I think you’re dreaming....The vast majority of people that are even modestly committed to getting a vaccinated already have one.
There are a few people like your son and some stragglers that will continue to trickle in for the shot but I sincerely believe we are within 10 or so % of all that are going to receive it barring any monumental attitude alterations.
“At this stage, we need to actively market the vaccine, as safe, life saving medicine, to those who are not really eager to get it.”
I hear radio spots for this all the time.
They are weird in that they’re already out of date, talking as if 100’s of millions of vaccinations haven’t already taken place.
People saying “I’ll get it when it’s my turn” as if there is still limitations on who can get it.
“Hopefully we’re far enough along toward herd immunity that the impact will be limited.”
Those over 40 and not vaccinated might be in for a rough ride. Especially if they have to tangle with the SA or Brazilian variants. (J&J protects against those)
Their body, their choice. And I would not force it on them (unless military).
They are adults and can suffer any consequences of their decisions like the rest of us.

I got the J&J vaccine on Saturday at the VA.
I didn’t even get a sore arm, but was a little tired that evening. Nothing since.
And it protects against the variants, and so far has no need for a booster. It’s long lasting. How long is to be determined.

Yes, I agree with you that we need freedom of choice along with individual responsibility for all consequences. I just want to open everything up now including all schools with no MANDATORY mask requirements.
“Portugal?!...

That would be my guess as well. But ultimately, these restrictions are political decisions.
“my predictions made a few weeks back are coming to fruition”
Bigly.
COVID-19, like most coronaviruses, appears to have seasonal peaks and troughs.
Deaths are flat now in the USA, but cases have been dropping 2-3 weeks. Deaths tend to lag cases by a few weeks.
