Those over 40 and not vaccinated might be in for a rough ride. Especially if they have to tangle with the SA or Brazilian variants. (J&J protects against those)
Their body, their choice. And I would not force it on them (unless military).
They are adults and can suffer any consequences of their decisions like the rest of us.
