The unnamed couple have dementia and Alzheimer's disease respectively. They successfully figured out the door code and walked out of the facility in Lebanon, Tennessee. They were found by a stranger about 30 minutes later and returned to the home. They were not harmed during the short excursion, which occurred on March 2.
The man later explained that he had "previously worked with Morse code in the military" and had used that experience to decipher the code to open the door leave, according to a report from the Tennessee Board For Licensing Health Care Facilities.
The facility in question, Elmcroft of Lebanon, has been fined $2,000 following the incident and has changed all the codes for its exits.

They usually just drag a chair up near the exit and watch the staff punch in and out. 4 numbers and a # or *.

Newsweak is an embarrassment!
And they promote gun bans because no one needs an AK-Uzi15 that shoots 2000 magazines of cop killing teflon coated dum dum clips per second.
I am so sorry to hear about your experience.
Things get crazy when our parents die, especially if there is money involved.
Been there; still there.
Almost considering suing my sister; way too long of a story.
Best of luck!
Julie
I am so sorry.
I’m sure you did the very best you could.
I guess at first they thought it was racist.. 🙁
I had forgotten Nurse Ratchet ..
But Nurse Ratchet hasn’t forgotten YOU. lol
You need an advocate outside of the facility. A pastor, a laywer, a relative, a polititian or a friend.
:)
Thank you! I will have to make some phone calls...
All the best to you and yours,
Julie
prayers for your liberation and restoration!
I once spent some time at a home for the elderly. There was a lovely lady there. According to the nursing staff her son brought her there one day and promised he would be back for dinner. The son never returned that night or anytime later. That was more than a year earlier.
Thank you for sharing that. I have three kids that are nurses in rest homes. This is far too common and should never be so. We have a real issue now with lack of appreciation for our elders and mentors. We just do not care. We owe them... Yet we care more about them not cramping our lifestyles. It really is a low in compassionate civility and humanitarianism.
No you were good... It was me. It has happened before. :)
