When Tim Tebow retired from baseball in February after a run as a Mets minor-leaguer, it appeared to spell the end of his athletic career.

But in a stunning twist, the former Jets and Broncos quarterback is attempting an NFL comeback as a tight end, according to multiple reports.

The 33-year-old reached out to the Jacksonville Jaguars requesting an opportunity to try out as a tight end, ESPN reported. Tebow went through a workout with the team’s tight ends coach, according to NFL Network, and the Jaguars have had “at least some discussion” of signing him.

Jaguars coach Urban Meyer was the coa

I would think quarterbacks would have a big advantage switching to tight end because they spent a heck of a lot of time having to know their routes and what they were supposed to be doing on the field.

Tebow should have gone into the league initially as a Fullback. Dude was huge, and a beast to bring down — he had the size and the speed, and could have easily been the next Alstott. I said it when he left Florida, but nobody listens to me... ;-p

I agree. Had he come into the league changing positions he might have had a career. He was a terrific athlete.

I watched him play QB and he had the strangest throwing action I've ever seen. It was almost like a baseball windup.

Football is a business. Tebow has shown to be a big draw. Business owners take note of that.

All he did was take a team that couldn’t win a game that season and take them to the championship game. And he provided some great football too.
He sucked as a quarterback... all he knew how to do was win.

I’m pulling for him but won’t watch the NFL if he makes the team.

It’s the position he should have played all along in the nfl.

Wow! Good grief to you. Your hatred of Tebow has clouded your judgment.

The top Tight End in the NFL is Travis Kelce who is going on 32. And he has been beat-up a lot during his years in the NFL. Tebow has barely been touched. Not saying he is going to be the best, but he will be better than more than a few playing now.

They are great, when they can throw too, Tebow couldn’t. He should have been a TE to begin with. I hope it’s not too late.

Well, the league sure isn’t the same as what it was when he was a rookie...

I would have given it all up to play minor league ball and see America from town to town.

If he makes an NFL team now as a TE, you’re going to retract that statement, right?

Jags need a TE and did not sign any in free agency. It’s been a sore spot here for awhile. I imagine Tebow could get at least a practice squad spot if he is at all viable.

If he really wants to play football, maybe he could go to Canada.

Do CFL teams do the knee-for-racism bit?

Haven’t watched in years but he brings an interesting skill set to the table. Coaches have said he’s a natural tight end in the past. He can catch and run, plus throw a pass on the end around, plus act as an emergency QB.

But his best asset of all is that signing him would hack off liberals mightily.
