The Massachusetts Fifth Regiment, which arrived yeaterday, report that the advance guard were three or four times fired upon by a small party of horsemen, who were stationed in a ravine beyond Bladensburgh. None of the shots took effect, and the assault was presumed to be the unauthorized act of rowdies. The officers of the Fifth Massachusetts Regiment are at Willard's for the present, and the Regiment are at the Treasury Department and at the Capitol.
The Seventy-first New-York Regiment, which arrived this morning, report no trouble on the line. They are stationed at the ball-room.
The Seventh (New-York) Regiment are at the Capitol, in the Representatives Hall. They take their meals at the hotels until Monday, when they expect to go into Camp at Arlington, on the Virginia side, with a full park of artillery and a corps of engineers.
The Sixth (Massachusetts) Regiment are at the Capitol, in the Senate Chamber. One man from Beverly last night had his foot shattered by the accidental discharge of a gun. The leg was amputated to save his life.
Gov. SPRAGUE's Rhode Island troops were sent to the Patent Office. Only half his corps have arrived.
Dispatches received here state Hon. THOB. CORWIN had reached Cuba, and awaited the arrival of an English steamer to convey him to Mexico. The statement, so zealously circulated, that Mexico sympathizes with the South in the present crisis, I am informed by one of the attaches of the Mexican Legation here, is wholly incorrect. He says that Mexico has the fullest confidence in the ability of the Government to control its present difficulties, and that his country fears nothing so much as the dissolution of the Federal Union.
The Government has supplies now for 30,000 men ninety days, upon the regular army rations.

Both editorials point to Maryland as having quickly recoiled from recent rebellion and now more soberly supporting the Union.
The editorials are correct in saying Maryland secessionists are no longer in the political driver's seat, but wrong in thinking (if they do) than many Marylanders have changed their minds.
The Maryland legislature voted 4 to 1 against secession, and Marylanders served the Union Army over Confederates by 2 to 1.
When RE Lee marches north into Maryland hoping to enlist more young Maryland men in his army, he will find very few to join him.
But among Marylanders who will remain adamantly opposed to the United States was a younger son of the large family of Shakespearian actor, Junius Brutus Booth.
