Treasure hunters are planning to dig up what they say could be 48 crates of Nazi gold worth nearly half a billion pounds at a palace used by Hitler's SS as a brothel.
The dig, which starts next week, is hoped to uncover 10 tonnes of gold along with other valuables in the grounds of the 18th century palace in the village of Minkowskie in southern Poland.
The treasure was stolen on the orders of SS boss Heinrich Himmler towards the end of WWII to set up a Fourth Reich.
It is thought to include the so-called 'Gold of Breslau' which went missing from police headquarters in what is now the nearby Polish city of Wrocław.
It is also thought to include jewellery and valuables from the private collections of wealthy Germans who lived in the region and who handed their possessions to the SS in order to protect them from being looted by the advancing Red Army.
The location was revealed by secret documents, an SS officer's diary and a map that the treasure hunters received from the descendants of officers belonging to a secretive lodge dating back over 1,000 years.

If even one person knew of it’s existence after the war, then the gold is no longer there.

Headline this time next year: “More Hitler “lost gold” to be found in XXX location.”
Reminds me of the hunt for buried Spitfires in Burma story a couple of years ago and the “Hunting Hitler” tv waste of time show.

I'll bet somebody talked long before now and they will find mostly empty crates and packing. But I could be wrong.
Remember Deep Throat (Mark Felt)? He basically spilled the beans on Nixon and Watergate because he was p***ed off about being passed over for promotion to the top job. But he couldn't bring himself to admit as much until he was ready to meet his maker.
For years, he preferred the speculation that he did it out of honor rather than a petty desire for revenge. Millions of people in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos died or served in labor camps to massage his bruised ego. He was a true metaphor for the Washington swamp.

The Mystery of Al Capone's Vaults
The
Mystery of Al Capone's Vaults is a two-hour live American television special that was broadcast in syndication on April 21, 1986, and hosted by Geraldo Rivera. It centered on the live opening of a secret vault in the Lexington Hotel in Chicago once owned by noted crime lord Al Capone, which turned out to be empty except for debris.
It's the standing joke for anybody searching for lost treasure.

ODESSA probably got to it long ago. Or sold the location to someone else who excavated it.

This isn’t like a ship sunk in a storm.
The gold was stolen.
It should be returned to whoever it was stolen from.

The “palace” in the picture looks like it would be a great inn or lodge. Although it’s in disrepair it has good bones and hopefully someone could restore it.

Doubt it will be found. The gold was moved to Oak Island.
