That was His thing. Sometimes he tanned so much that around his eye were bright white. He purposely tanned. I’m sure he’s proud of the portrait.
Many images. Tracks where the name came from and the ship (Resolute) “Resolute” and the its expedition and the search. . .
I think it is a painted portrait, not a photo. . .I think.
Love that he put the military service flags in the background
I see the Anchor.
It often has to do with not getting a proper white balance for the ambient light. With something like this you have to set the white balance right off the surface. That is the only way you get true reproduction.
That...and I am willing to bet very few of us have “color balanced monitors. I used to have to rebalance the monitor with a digital doo-hickey at the start of each week.
God, I just love that man.
That is a great portrait. I really miss him. I miss laughing so hard at the things he would say or tweet, and laughing even harder at the dummies who didn’t realize he was joking.
On his lapel
It looks like a man ready to take some action.
Donald approved this so if he is happy, so am I (as opposed to Mullah Obama’s paint by numbers one)
Looks like thay gave it a “wash” of color to simulate the aging varnish of Old Masters. Classic portrait style, but I prefer a green “wash”
The American flag is to the right of the sitter in photographs of Trump’s Oval Office, so you can’t see it from this angle. The artist was not trying to make a personal political statement. Why would Trump choose an unfriendly artist? There are plenty of portrait artists out there, some of them probably even voted for him.
To me, he looks as if he’s either getting into his chair to get to work or he’s starting to get out of the chair to get to work. It’s a more dynamic pose than just sitting in a chair.
Nice. Maybe our last patriotic president. I hope I’m wrong.

I immediately interpreted it as him getting up to take action.

You are correct.
It’s a painting, and the American flag is behind his right shoulder, out of view in this perspective.
Very attractive portrait. A little more smile 😃 could have been nice but as a presidential image perhaps 🤔 not deemed necessary. Live it! What are the flags?
